I have just finished another of my mapless Napoleonic Campaigns. This one did not last too long. The opening battle was in the Peninsular where the French crushed the the Spanish. The next battle also was in the Peninsular this time against the British led by Duke of Wellington as he was to become. French were soundly beaten losing them the political points earned for defeating the Spanish. Next event was in Europe with France invading Prussia. Prussia won. Because France lost the Penninsular war she had no reinforcements to bring back to Europe to carry on the campaign. Napoleon exiled! For now!

Used my DBN Ottomans yesterday - not easy with all the extra rules, but fun. Looking to expand the 'Eastern Frontier' to include the Qajar Persians and the Georgians. Should be able to use 1813 Russians to fight them (war of 1816-22). Incidentally - I fluked a win. Did you develop any house rules for more Eastern armies? I am looking at doing the Sikh Wars with DBN with such exotic troops as Camel guns! Cheers Simon

Several of the Janco's massive have taken the plunge and started armies. Today we played four games of British vs Russians, unfortunately for me the British slaughtered me.
The ability to fire as elites did great harm to my poor lads.
Fab games though.

I like DBN and I’m afraid will succumb to the Warlord epic using the 60mm bases as I think the 20 figures to a base will look nice and 6mm are just a tad small for me Graham

DBN day in Janco's today. Russians, French, British and Prussians. We played each other then a final 2v2 game. In last game my Russians managed to take out Prussians then swung over to a mauled British force but game ended before getting a conclusion. Brits had lost five of six and Russians had lost three of six but several other units were heavily mauled. Great day
British were forming up a gun line and Russians were trying to get artillery in place would have been close
My Russians got a draw vs Brits, win vs French, win vs Prussians who threw 5 1's in a row for shooting or combat one turn and Russia were involved in a stalemate in big battle.
Cconsidering my Russians had lost about 20 games in run up to this I am happy as Larry.
Only blot on a great day is my Russians had to form an alliance with French to face Britain and Prussia in final battle much to my disgust.

Do you find them easy to pick up (having played DBA before), baldie? Any ‘head scratching moments’, or all perfectly clear?

They are very similar to older versions of DBA/HoTT. I also play Lart which again I presume was heavily based on DBA, DBM, DBMM etc. ( presume someone can actually advise the timeline of how the family of rules came about )
What I do find I get caught up on
DBA and Lart are 40mm base width measurements, DBN is 1 inch measurements DBA defender goes first, DBN and Lart attacker goes first. DBA units in side support can shoot and be shot at, DBN and Lart they cant. DBA, Lart any side edge contact provides support, DBN side support only happens when your attacking unit has a friendly unit in full side edge lined up front corner to front corner DBA results of one combat effect other combats, DBN and Lart combat is simultaneous so outcomes dont affect other combats. Lart and DBN have wounds/cohesion points
I love DBA first and DBN, Lart, HoTT come close

Baldie, What is the historical scale difference between DBN and Lart? Or better expressed, what do each element represent?
