I think I'm emigrating... P. As long as you keep sending 8 fully painted match pairs of armies back each year we are happy for you. And I thought you only loved me for my money 💰🥰 P

I think I'm emigrating... P. You would be welcome Paul, but remember this land is vast - so be sure to make the Australian Capital Territory your choice as this is the Axis of DBA here in Oz. BTW - Baldie may not like the way we absorb your 8 painted pairs into our stable before you get a chance to send them away Cheers

We now have about 10 entries for Landwaster - so half the roster. Plenty of room to join in.
This will be the 19th time we have gathered together for Landwaster since it kicked off in 2002
In that time 109 different players have entered with Fanticus' own Gregorius having the longest unbroken attendance with 13 years in a row missing only one since he started levelling out with a total of 14 appearances, pipped by another long term player who has attended 15 but with more breaks scattered through his runs.
Entries peaked in 2006 with 34 players competing.
Thirteen different players have held the Landwaster trophy aloft, with one player (Chaotic of Fanatici Fame) leading the field with three wins, and another three players having won twice.
One of them, Stephen Webb, sadly passed last year before Landwaster 2019 and so the tournament is held in his Memory from last year with the trophies appropriately inscribed.
So much for fun facts -
Looking forward to seeing you there
Cheers

Can you imagine trying to convince the significant others that a trip to Oz or the States is a lovely idea, then dropping in it would include a 3 - 5 day gaming convention as well.
Super

Is that why you are trying to get your other half interested in playing DBA?
Personally I don't think the Brownie Point Bank has the amount of credit that would allow this. Although, bless her, I was allowed a day attendance at a wargames convention in Bournemouth for a couple of years running whilst we were on holiday, and she looked after our two small boys, (until the organisers decided summer wasn't a good time for a convention as a lot of people were on holiday! Yes me, that's why I'm here!!)
A couple of years ago, again whilst on holiday, I managed to be given access to the wargames event at the Bovington Tank Museum, whilst she did a nearby Lawrence of Arabia themed walk.
But I think a day would be the limit.

Really want to do one of the big American ones, on the plus side if I tried to get away with it one year I doubt she would object to me going alone forever more.

Forward planning is crucial. Two of my wargaming friends have managed to combine participation in competitions in New Zealand with trips to visit their (adult) children there. (I think one of them even won the competition he played in.)

Baldie, in 2015 SWMBO and I travelled to the USA for 3 weeks on the east coast and Hawaii on the way home, which included attendance at Historicon in Fredericksburg. Four days of wargaming was easy to sell with such a trip. Give it a try once the pandemic madness is over. You never know, it could just work. Cheers,

In the past two days we have had another couple of entries and confirmation that Mick Sellman will be attending with a trade stand.
So assuming no game day attrition we have 14 players - I am chasing up 1 list and when I get that I will put up the Runners and Riders
Cheers

I'll worry about clothes closer to leaving Armidale 😏. Cheers,

Good luck for Sunday - and if any of the games qualify for the Society of Ancients Championship, please let me have the details.

I realise I've been pretty quiet of late, but to state the obvious: Unfortunately I won't be there, which is annoying because I always enjoy the tournament, the company and the venue. Work is putting some significant constraints on my personal travel... and thanks to the one work-related trip I took to Adelaide last week, I get to enjoy the next 14 days of not leaving my house.
Please try to contain any speculation about what craziness may occur to fill the void of my spectacularly ordinary middle-of-the-pack finishes. I hope it all goes well!
