Looking for some feedback from folks with experience with Blue Moon Miniatures. Before I plonk a considerable sum on 15mm Landsknechts from Blue Moon, can anyone tell me how they size up to Essex? I plan to continue using Essex for my Imperialist Gendarmes but the Blue Moon infantry look so much more appealing than what Essex currently has on offer.

I have some Napoleonic and FIW Blue Moon. They are bigger than my medieval Essex. I would also be careful of the sculpts. My Napoleonic ones were fine but my FIW were terrible and I returned some then got fed up. Faces were terrible.

The Swiss seemed a mixed lot but the Landsknechts look very promising ( and affordable). Besides, there are so few companies that do really good Italian Wars 15mm. If they're a smidge large I suspect they will work well with my Legio Heroica Swiss. Thanks for sharing!

I have no experience with Blue Moon but.... you could take a look at the QRF site (they are in UK). Click on the page for Freikorps pre 1900 and there you'll find a link to their late medieval/early renaissance ranges. The foot are the same height as Essex landsquent (I have both). Another range worth a look is Khurasan Miniatures' Italian Wars. They are based in USA so not sure what availability is like.

Well now that I have a large sample of Blue Moon Manufacturing renaissance infantry in my hands, the answer to my question has a definitive answer. Blue Moon just about mixes with Legio Heroica but dwarfs Essex and Mirliton.

They're more 18mm aren't they?

They're more 18mm aren't they? In spite of their billing as "15mm" on the Old Glory website, I would say definitively "yes".

OG15 are, at least, consistent in size across the lines that I have obtained.
Not having, to my knowledge, any of the Blue Moon figures, I had refrained from posting earlier. It was my understanding however, that they ere comparable to the OG15 lines.

The Khurasan Italian wars range looks superb but does anyone know for definite how they match up with Essex Renaissance figures?
