How accurate is Stone's movie in terms of costumes and colors?
I have my armies for Gaugamela primed and would like to paint them according to the colors I saw in the movie. Will it work or it is a gross misrepresentation of what is known historically?

Picked up that DVD (at porch sale, two bucks) a few years ago, but have never played it. Oneovdezedaze... There are a few battle scenes on youtube, definitely worth checking.

Robin Lane Fox, well-known author of two biographies of Alexander, was advisor, so they made a real effort to make it accurate, within the bounds of it working on film. Apparently rather than taking a fee he demanded to be included in the cavalry charges! As a film, some great scenes visually, but...
