well yesterday, here in the UK we had our general election. Like millions of others off to my local polling station I trot. Normally I am in and out of the polling station like a greased weasel. This time it took me over an hour! Our polling station was in the village pub! Happy days

The question then is - were the pints imbibed to lubricate the thought processes for the voting, or in anticipated celebration or drowning of sorrows?
And, incidentally, do you remember how you voted???

Would the world be a better place if we all played with little toy soldiers? Or would each of us be individually disappointed that were no longer an elite, specialist “niche” bunch of hobbyists?
I did originally start with a minor rant about politics, but soon deleted it when I realised it was no real help and then decided to get back to my preferred subject of tiny metal warriors.

Geoff What really worries me is that there are some politicians who believe they are just playing with little toy soldiers!

Here in Oz, by and large the polling stations are local schools. They have turned the whole process into something of a great day out with sausage sizzles and market stalls, and recently laws have been passed that keep the various party spruikers a certain distance from the actual booths Kind of makes you pleased to be part of the democratic process. Pass me another "Democracy Sausage" * * the Macquarie Dictionary approved definition of the sausage in bread purchased at a polling station. Cheers

With the new Conservative majority, the Exit will be done. So my question is, what will that do to the pound? At least in the short term. Should I start to make up my UK shopping list, , maybe benefit from, dare I hope, parity of pound and dollar. If not better.

Should I start to make up my UK shopping list, , maybe benefit from, dare I hope, parity of pound and dollar. If not better. Not sure, but I THINK the pound got a bit stronger, once some of the uncertainty was dispensed with. Parity would certainly be a negative for me, Bob, 😳, but I can see it’d be something you’d hope for. Saw $1.20 or so =£1 til recently, crept back up to $1.34 = £1. (which helps on my trips to USA. 😊. Used to get $1.85 for my £1 ‘back in the day’ . Made a HUGE difference to the price of my ‘driving licence’, a lot of which I did in Oklahoma) However, from your perspective, I can see that parity would be a bonus (you just wouldn’t see many Brits ordering from Khurasan eg). How has $1 to Euro been? Legio Heroica and others.....? ****And.... more importantly, what’s on your ‘Wish List’ ?? !! ***

Saw the in the upper 1.20 range a few times, never at 1.20, but then I wasn't doing a daily check. Last time I saw it that low was back in 2010.
This week on the couple of times I checked it has been at 1.31 (was thinking of a Alternative Armies order).
