Hi Folks,
Tickets have now gone on sale for Cancon over the Australia Day Long Weekend
cgs.asn.au/cancon/cancon-tournaments/
2020 15mm DE BELLIS ANTIQUITATAS (DBA) Playing Conditions The DBA tournament will be contested over two days with six rounds per day starting at 9.30am and scheduled to finish at approx. 5.00pm. There will be prizes for first, second, third place, and a junior champion award, based on the combined scores over the 2 days. There will also be certificates for other achievements (including individual day winners, a novice award, and best and fairest). For Day 1, (Saturday 25 January 2020), armies may only be selected from Books 1 and 2. For Day 2 (Sunday 26th January 2020) armies will be restricted to Books 3 and 4. For each day the same 12 element army will be used in each round. This means that optional elements will not be permitted to be used. The 12 elements can also include approved allies appropriate to each list. There will be no dismounting – troops will need to be specified as either mounted or dismounted in your list. Rules: DBA v3.0 (including any official amendments released by the author). Scoring will be: Winners will be awarded: 8 points for a win. Losers will be awarded: 1 point for finishing the game, + 1 point for each enemy element killed (max of 3 points) + 1 bonus point for killing opponent’s General + 1 bonus point for capturing opponent’s camp. Maximum score for a lost game is 6. Drawn games are scored at a point for each enemy element killed (max of 3 points) + 1 bonus point for killing opponent’s General + 1 bonus point for capturing opponent’s camp. Maximum score for a drawn game is 5. Camps must have camp followers (CF) or be garrisoned by one of your army’s 12 elements. If either of these conditions is not met then the camp will be considered undefended. All figures should be appropriately based, painted and recognizably depict the troops they represent. Figures are to be based for 15mm scale (i.e. 40mm frontage). Game duration is 1 hour. Players are to provide their own terrain. Players are strongly encouraged to be creative with terrain building and depiction. Players can also register for a single day’s play, nominating either the Saturday or Sunday. How-To-Enter You can only enter the DBA competition by; Entering via the link above, and, Advising the organiser by Friday 17 January 2020 of army lists (detailing the 12 elements to be used) and date (to allow aggression to be calculated and to match opponents for the first round). Any queries regarding the DBA tournament should be directed to the organiser: Peter Braham dba.cancon2017@gmail.com

The Cancon Tickets are selling fast. At the present moment DBA has reserved spots - but if they sit idle for too long then the other games will swoop in like the vultures they are and demand the space be handed over. Don't let this happen Make DBA Great Again (When I entered on Monday night there were less than 20 places left for DBA)

Saw a note on another forum that the registration is going to open again soon, and there is limited space left. So their message was get in quick because all tournaments are striving for the final spots.

A lot of grps are reporting their events are now sold out.
Do we know how many people are in the DBA for each day?
Currently working out 2 armies. Trying stuff I have never run before.

Only a month away........looking forward to seeing everyone there. Just finishing up a couple of elements needed for Day 2.
Ok......I’ll fess up. Taking Palmyrans (the ‘a’ list when they were still playing nice with the Romans) for the first day. On the Sunday, I’ll be using Feudal French (list b).
Cheers and happy new year, everybody, Mark

Just saw another report on the bushfires sweeping parts of Australia. Thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones and I hope that all our Australian players are safe.
