I had an Assyrian army built out of Magister Militum minis. Now I have updated them to DBA 3, using Museum Miniatures, which looked reasonable sized. I should have compared more meticulously before I painted them up. Only after basing I realized that I do now have a complete and painted Neo Assyrian Later Sargonid army (lacks a single element of Ps for all options) the slight disproportion in figure sizes I cannot unsee anymore. My joy is spoilt, I do not want that army anymore. I fear I will not even finish the basing.

it happen... if you didn't glue them yet, and if you got the possibility (enough figs), try to regroup same size minis on same bases. btw adding grass, rocks and things on base will smooth the difference between minis, it's just the way of how you'll put them on the base. come on, you'll love them when you'll win their first battle!

I think I will just store them away and probably never look at them again.
No spare figures that would make any difference. No intention of doing the job all over again and painting another 20 figures or so.
My joy is spoiled.

I would retitle this post ‘... before you buy.’ Madaxeman’s website is great for discussion on relative sizing of the various miniatures available and will help save on the pain of mismatched figures 😱

I share your frustration felixs and especially with the Magister Militum Miniatures and the Museum monsters. I bought some Museum clubmen and swordsmen to go with my Chariot Miniatures Indian army and they are a full head and shoulders taller. I’ll have to flog the spares at a bring and buy.

Just updating my MM Cataphracts with Xyston ones. They looked like boys on hobby horses next to Xyston light horse.

I try to avoid mixing manufacturers for a particular army for this very reason - I know I'll obsess over mismatches in size and style that no-one else will see.

I managed to add some magister militum figures with essex miniatures in my sea peoples army...the magister militum figures are slightly shorter but by adding an extra piece of basing card under the MM bases they turn out the same size.

Museum Miniatures is a mixed bunch really scale-wise. The Assyrians are on the smaller end of the Museum range (not "Museum monsters") and I actually did a rough comparison before I got to work and thought I was fine. Turns out I am not and now I cannot unsee the 2mm or so in height difference. Maybe it is because - ironically - the light troops that have now got the big and bulky minis. Somehow it looks worse painted than it did in the unpainted metal.
Well.. I have too many armies anyway.

I agree with you Haardrada, and it seems to me Feilxs that you really want to field that army.
I have only played 3.0 of DBA so have no idea how many figs. you had to paint up to make the army 3.0 compliant, and hopefully not too many to go with Haardrada's idea?
Perhaps you can use the Museum figs for another version of the Assyrians, say Neo-Assyrian, that is if you wanted to buy more Museum figs.
Anyway, hope you do get those I/51 guys on the field at some point, especially that you are interested in doing all the options... I find it quite an interesting army to use.

That’s the way I do it but I’m very jealous of Tony Aguilar’s ability to mix manufacturers seamlessly even on a single base although I suspect he has mountains of unused figures that didn’t quite work out.
