I have two of these on Netflix. One is Rome (not that great mini-series) and the other is the Last Czar. I watched two episodes of Rome and then paused for quite a while. My wife and I are almost finished watching the Last Czar. Correction; I had two. The Rome series seems to have been removed from Netflix.
The mode is a mix of talking head historians and re-enactment of varying degrees of cheese. Both series insist on what seems an overload of soft-core porn. I get it, Nicholas loved his wife and knew how to make babies. How many times do we need to be reminded of that? Or that Rasputin or for that matter Comodus were licentious? Don't get me wrong, I will watch films far racier than these. But why stir in so much soft-core porn in what are billed as historical series?
Perhaps I'm, just getting old.
