Are there any individual players or groups on Nottingham? I’m really rusty (by about 20 odd years!) so would love someone to show me the ropes (my Barkerese is rusty as well!) and to find somewhere I might get a game regularly.

Also there are a few of us who play DBA pretty regularly at Chesterfield on Monday nights.
Next Bakewell tournament is Sat 8 June.

Not sure I’d feel confident enough to dive into a tournament yet! 😬😁
What are the other details for the Bakewell event?

Played Bakewell last year having not had a game of Dba for 30 years and never played v3. The group were very welcoming and supportive. I’m Newark way but our club doesn’t do dba☹️

Details for Bakewell Tournament - Saturday 8 May, Medway Centre, Bakewell kick off at 1000 and it is an open so any army allowed. You are welcome to come and observe or play me if I do not need to play. I can provide armies.
Re Chesterfield club -meets are in the Parish Centre, 91 Sheffield Road, Stonegravels, Chesterfield S41 7JH, Monday evenings 7 - 10 pm. Probably best to PM me with your contact details and I will let you know when a DBA game is planned.

Thanks for the encouragement timr, unfortunately the next Bakewell event clashes with a prior engagement. I understand there tends to be one later in the year as well, so I might see if I can make that one.
In the meantime would you be up for a game some time?
Newark would be a stretch at the moment but a mid-point meet, somewhere like Southwell would be do-able; there is a splendid inn* there that may be able to accomdate two fellows and a 2” Board!
* I’m thinking of The Saracen’s Head; where Charles I dined with the Scots who later handed him over to the Parliamentarians!

Thanks for all the details, Simon.
Unfortunately I discover from my social secretary and boss that I have a prior engagement the weekend of the tournament, but thank you for the offer of a game there!
I’ll send you my details though as I’d be interested in coming to a club night; although I’m not currently on the road, I hope to see that change in the future!

I started going to tourneys to have a great time and meet like minded peeps. Also hoped to better myself at the game, still two out of three ain't bad.

Hi Baldie,
I’ve atended many tournaments for other games and systems and my experience has been similar! Great fun with (mostly) great people and, while I’ve learned loads about the rules and been inspired by the modelling and painting, I can’t really say I’ve managed to put much of this to practical use myself!
Inherent inability will out! ;-)
