MEGA WOW Ken!! Brilliant army! And the detail on the high priest and the wall of the camp!! And those Rabbis are beautifully painted - in my best secular opinion! BIG thank you for making the effort to use 'postimage' to share your work with the DBA Fanaticus community.
I am truly bowlled over... CarlL

The last of the mounted for my Romans, I'd love a couple more elements of Equites but for the time being that's all I have. This first fellow is my original General from the late nineties, never been stripped, god knows how many layers of paint on him. Only some shading and highlighting on him this time, I did strip and repaint his companions. Oh, different horses too. Because everyone needs a spare.

The Equites. Because they turned out okayish, a couple of alternate rules Generals. Some of the Warmodelling horses can be a little funky.

YOU are on a ROLL, what exquisite cavalry!
I reckon the posted images on my screen of the individual 15mm cavalry elements must be at least five times bigger in every direction than the original 15mm figures, otherwise I wouldn't see these individual paint strokes that give your figures such character! I doubt I could do this kind of detail on my 25mm / 28mm when using a magnifier with stand.
All power to your beautiful painting technique. Sensational work. [Sadly I probably couldn't see such detail if playing opposite you on a 15mm DBA table!!]

Denis
You had me thinking I had had one too many beers then I re-checked SoA website!
It is a clever use of a lovely and well painted elephant model and warriors. I like your basing style too.
Changes in DBA lists have created a few unwanted elements over the years! DBA version 1, includes El in 1990; and in version 1.1 in 1995 El is no more! But such figures could possibly be re-cycled like your Blemmye El becoming a Numidian El?
Mind there was no Slave Revolt army (aka Spartacus) in either of these versions of DBA! Not sure when that appeared but its in my Feb2001 copy of version 2 of DBA.

Thank you, carll. The basing style started out as a straight lift from Peter Berry's Baccus miniatures basing kit, but has evolved over time. The final lighter shade, Vallejho Pale Sand, was included following a comment by someone either here or on Facebook and the tufts - which are what really set it off - are from Tajima1 Miniatures (https://www.tajima1.co.uk/) which paulisper recommended. It was someone on Facebook who commented on the changes to the army lists which prompted me to look again at the Alternative Armies website. The elephant figure seemed too nice not to use and the camp seems the perfect solution. PS Surely one too many beers would result in pink elephants rather than grey ones?

Time to catch up on my general painting comments with images. This will be a long one, you have been warned. II/54a & b Scots-Irish The general on foot: And on his battle taxi: Roman Auxilia: II/53 Ancient British The General stands with two options for on foot. I needed another chariot so I ordered the 3dbreed.es model from an etsy vendor and it comes with both a chariot-riding Boudicca and a foot one. I used a couple of spare figures to fill out a second 3Wb general because why not? An additional 3dbreed chariot so I could steal one to fill out II/54a. I went a little crazy and attempted woad and plaid. II/73 Old Saxon, etc. Because all warbands all the time, so why not? II/5c Thebans The Psiloi. I love these Museum Miniatures sculpts, they are so dynamic. The 8Sp General and 4Sp General The 8Sp element. This is a very full base, as is the 8Sp general. I am guessing these guys are meant to represent the Sacred Band. II/12 Alexandrian Macedonian and II/15 Alexandrian Imperial Alexander and companions Artillery Elephant. Also a 3dbreed resin print. It's a really nice model.

Oops, forgot the HOTT army just completed. Meerkatmen from Magister Militum. I think I just about cleared out their stock because not much is left showing on the site. This army will get my wife to at least try playing HOTT. Behemoth giant cobra. Maybe a general or hero. Foot command Cobra Hunters

It's a shame with Magister Militum, I hope he finds a buyer because these are nice figures & it makes me sad this is probably the last Meerkatmen army. I tried a different concept for the basing based on the example images left and some image searches for Meerkats. I would have like a bit finer sized talus, but that's what the train shop had. It worked well overall and I'm generally happy with it.
Next up is the Magister Militum Mongeese army. Japanese Samurai-themed, so this will be fun. Some reference image searches lets me know I can go crazy with colors if I want. I just need to decide how I want to handle all the little sashimono banners.
