A distraction in deed Ken for any enemy soldier long deprived of R&R ... did the Galileans sport knives and other weapons under their attire? CarlL

I have no idea whether or not this will work. If it does, it should show (or at least link to) my latest army, II/55a Blemmye. flic.kr/p/2pzSVgD

CarlL Spot on the text says…’while their faces looked like the faces of women, they killed with their right hands; and when their gait was effeminate, they presently attacked men, and became warriors, and drew their swords from under their finely dyed cloaks,’ K

I find the 15mm.co.uk (= ex TTG) figures look very basic, but paint up really nicely, Carl. I recently did an army for this year’s Alton DBA using their models. [and Denis does such a great job, very careful and attentive to detail).

Thank you, Ken Gordon. I have described it elsewhere as an "accidental army". It wasn't one that I had ever considered getting until I discovered that a job lot of second hand figures I had bought included 16 Blemmye archers and 5 Blemmye cavalry which was about a third of the foot and almost half the mounted I would need for the army. (My thanks to martin for identifying them.) I'm pleased with how they've turned out and I'm just waiting until there is no risk of getting a 20mm resin Giant Tick as a free gift before I order the elephant figure to serve as the camp element.

The El could be used for a Gen in the 1/58 Meroitic Kushite , which could be a morph army with a few more figures .

Now I have my Z range Museum Normans/Bretons my next project can continue.I originally wanted to add a III/40d Viking Leidang allied contingent to the IV/13a Medieval Germans and liked the look of the Museum figures and decided to choose them for the foot elements. But when the Museum January sale came along I expanded the allied contingent into the full army at a reasonable cost....Not knowingly I'd triggered a major expansion of my Viking armies as by borrowing the two Blade elements from the Medieval Germans and creating a General element from spare figures I can field a Viking (b) & (c) army as the figures also fit the time period of both the lists.
This has also sorted a dilemma I had for a Viking army I have in my lead pile which I couldn't decide whether it was going to be a 3Bd or 4Bd army.
To cut a long story short I've managed to acquire enough elements to field any of the Viking sub-lists when the armies are completed.....let the painting begin.🙂

Thanks, Les1964. This may or may not show the Nubian General's element and the two Fast warband I painted last year.

I grabbed a bunch of their Hoplites for some II/5 armies. I've come to realize I'll probably have enough to field just about any of the variations now. I was eyeballing those Normans & Bretons until I added up how much I'd be spending. Next year.
