A completed IV/13a Medieval German army (1106-1150AD)..of the Wendish Crusade 1147AD...based on the army of Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony & Bavaria and brother in law of Richard I of England. I've tried a new basing technique to give a Northern European rather than my Dusty sandy look and I like the outcome. Danish and Early Polish contingents to follow once I've completed the Late Amorites. A photo is the fb page. m.facebook.com/groups/382414395294162/permalink/2232833510252232/or here postimg.cc/QBK4QJGcImpressive looking Medieval German army and painted in record time

Post Cancon there was a lot of tidying required but I snuck in some painting yesterday
Finishing 1x4Ax and 1x4Bw for the Palaialogan Byzantines I put the first splashes of paint onto the Kyrenean Greeks and in doing so kicked on to finish 1xPs for that army.
Cheers

macbeth, you HAVE energy if you can get these done after a "tourney" and after tidying up. I think I would have needed a pint and an early night after my last attempt at tourney play. Well done CarlL

Who is Spartacus? ... well mine (the foot version) appeared in an earlier photo but hidden behind his shield so he could not be seen!! B/////r!! (Unintended photo result!) I had hoped to get all 36 elements done before the end of this January!! (Ambitious but they were all de-flashed and primed ages ago!!) I hope to get Horde (above) basing done tomorrow. (Today now!) But I think the Psiloi and Cavalry General / COs (another Spartacus, again bareheaded and bearded!) may take till well into February by the time they are finished!! When he appears look out for the second version of his wife, accompanying him into battle. (Two versions one for foot base and other for mounted base. Both ladies have their pet snakes in attendance!! One an Asp viper and other a Leopard snake!! Both made from milliput and both painted [as best I can] to give a likeness!! Both native to southern Italy!!)
But Haardrada is correct, I am enjoying seeing them get completed, after waiting 40 plus years to make (have!) the time to finish them!! With more bad weather coming our way I think it will be back to the painting table for next couple of days... CarlL

Urr ... Got distracted on 31Jan, instead of finishing basing on my Spartacus horde, I started my three elements (bases) of mounted generals for my Spartacus army. Proved harder work than expected as I tried to make each rider and horse (9+9) different!! So 80% done. All rolling over into February... hopefully to march on to completion and victory over the tyranny of Rome !!
CarlL practising for his orator apprenticeship... perhaps .... or maybe facing 'crucifixion' for opposing the will of Rome !!

Finished my Spartacus mounted generals and stuck the nine figures to bases (to form 3 elements for DBA army) and got my psiloi 90% finished (16 slinger figures for 8 bases / elements, 6 for BIG DBA army, others to make options for other rules).
Hopefully sort basing of the Horde (and generals) bases tomorrow! CarlL
PS. I have also started work on the Hollywood 'Rolling bails of fire' weapons I bought forty years ago (from 1st Corps) and which I am modifying slightly, to create some unofficial 'one off' weapons, to be played as scythed weapons.

At last my Spartacus BIG DBA army is finished! (Although reliant on previous 25mm armies for my Gallic Wb or German Wb..) Mind not done a camp so reliant on past 'generic' camp items. But here is the finished 25mm army (only 40+ years after I bought figures)! CarlL The Horde elements with simple basing complete. The Psiloi (interpreted a slingers) now finished too. And some final close(r) shots of the Generals beginning with Spartacus mounted! And Spartacus with his other generals, mounted and on foot. CarlL
