Russian shields are done and varnished. These will be fixed tomorrow to the boyars and militia spearmen that need them. Russian peasants are next in the painting queue. I am aware DBA3 does not list them, but DBMM does and the selected scenario will have them fight.

Just finished painting up the first figure for the first cav. for my Phrygians.
I picked up a shade of red called "Tuscan red" a few weeks ago, and I am super-duper happy with the look of the colour, which I used on the rider's cap and trim on the tunic.
Looking forward to using this on future figures.

Paul, Your project is nearly complete. What is next? Good question- I’ve 4 more armies in the pile to paint. Central Asian Turkish, which is broadly a left over of the Khazar/Avar/Bulgar morph I did earlier this year and may well end up in the Northern Cup mix, a Pyrrhic army from Xyston that will feature in the 2022 Northern Cup and two Lurkio armies (Han & Three Kingdoms) that I got in their sale last year. I reckon that lot should take me through to end of July and, hopefully, the Hammerhead show. I’m probably going to then revisit my 6mm Bacchus collection for a significant rebasing project, plus I want to bulk out the Greek options here. Should keep me busy until the end of 2021 😉 P

Been busy with work but still getting some painting done. Finished March with 4-1/3 CV elements of Gladiator FE012 Prussian light cavalry, an element of WB and 3 elements of3WB using a mix of FE027 and 029 Spearmen and Axemen, 3-1/2 elements of Prussian/Lithuanian Archers, as well as 5 elements of Essex MID 95 Eastern Javelinmen with kite shields. Gets me a Book IV Prussian army with a start on the BBDBA army as well.
Hopefully Scale Creep Miniatures will get a restock on the Gladiator Pruss in the not too distant future so I can fill up the partial elements.
Also finished up a HD element with OG15 CRU-11 and 12 peasants and pilgrims.
So far this month have painted and attached to bases 4 elements each of Essex NA2 and NA 3 Medium and Heavy Spearmen.

Just undercoated 3 x 28mm figures for my New Model Army. They are representing Dr Payne (No pun intended, that was the name of Armies Physician to the Army in 1645 and 1646) a surgeons assistant and an unfortunate having his leg amputated.
My scaled down New Model Army already has the Army Chaplain, Agitator and staff officers represented. Just the Surgeon, Scout Master and Master Gunner to get and paint.

Today I finished off
1x3Kn for the Feudal Spanish - this army is now complete
1xLCh(Gen) and 1xLCh for the Caledonians - also now purple compliant
1x3Bd and 1c4Bd for the Low Countries - the army is battle ready (can field a legal army) so long as at least one of the Kn elements stays mounted and doesn't get off the horses to become pikes.
Cheers

Battling my way through some cavalry elements for my DBN Russians, really not enjoying them despite the Baccus sculpts being great. Nearly at the ink stage where for my figs the magic happens turning blobs of coloured metal into passable figs then the highlights sort em.

Never bothered inking or highlighting 6mm - the effort involved just doesn’t justify the overall result, IMHO... P

I assure you if you saw how I blob paint on figs covering it up with ink and using highlights to neatly cover over mistakes is an escential part of the process. I have detested doing the cav bug determined to finish off my first basic DBN force as hopefully it will be one of the games played at a garden play date comin up. Got shed loads more to do to get anywhere near a Blucher force though needless to say I got a much larger order than was sensible. Then got a smaller French order as a way to lure some of my club mates into the joy of 6mm Naps.
