Just started my next DBA project - III/25c Khawarij. Oh, do tell, Tony. Details, please. What figures? How would the Khawariij differed in dress or appearance (if at all) from other Arab Conquest? In other words, could I add a few Fast Warbands and plausibly field all three sub-lists, or should III/25c Khawarij more properly be a standalone army? The combo of Knights & Fast Warbands is rather uncommon in Purple, right?

After two dayâs work, I am very satisfied with the ârefurbish projectâ created for the Arab collection. The colours offer a better contrast of topcoats and turbans. Painting looks crisp and choice of colours offer a better variety than what I had before. The Fatamid are first in the painting queue and eleven-foot elements are done.
And while I had the feeling of a monk at his scribe table, I listened to some energising music which fostered a good tempo. Music to paint by: www.youtube.com/watch?v=53WK6XqP-gM&list=WL&index=4&t=0s

The combo of Knights & Fast Warbands is rather uncommon in Purple, right? I will be using a mix of figures form Minifigs, Old Glory, Museum and even Falcon. I am not sure anything is definitely known about them save that they used a red banner (cool) and their horsemen used long lances. I plan on painting them drabish as I would think they would be less showy than other Muslim armies of the times especially since they were rebelling against the "abuses" of the Umayyad caliphs. Knights and warbands are indeed an odd combination and two of the troop types that I am not in love with. Nonetheless a mix of forces that is quite different to any I have. They also are enemies of Mitch's Umayyads and Abassids. I will be posting progress pics on Facebook.

Thumbs up to the music!

"Josie" joined me on my lap yesterday morning as I enjoyed a bit of painting. I could have painted her nose a very different color, but I didn't.

Looking at the army list for the 'c' Feudal Spanish, one of the options is for a bidet 3AX. As I had 11 of the Naismith MM-6 Bidets in some armies I got from Mike Sanderson that were already painted I went ahead and based them as 3 3AX and a PS. I did repaint the shields that were a dark brown various colors with some added designs to 'spice' them up. I also repainted the sword's scabbards which were painted silver as if the swords were unsheathed. Otherwise the previous paint job was solid (although more uniform than my preferences).

Renewing the Arab Collection. All the infantry for two Fatamid commands are done (20 elements). There are 8 elements of cavalry and light horse and these will be painted next week.
The Dynastic Bedouin will follow next and these should take less time as there are fewer foot elements.

I found some time to get back on with Berber Allies for the Grenadines, not enough time but still it's progress.
I can't wait to finish them but it's domestic life rather than other armies distracting me that is sapping my free-time.

Finished the Dynastic Bedouin infantry of 14 elements. These are 6 x Sp, 2 x Dailami (4Ax), 2 x tribal auxiliaries (3Ax), 2 x archers (Ps) plus Kurdish allied bow (3Bw). Painting the cavalry of 14 elements will begin tomorrow.
