Maybe others will not like the effect, but I sure do.
For my Biblical battles, I am just using a tan coloured blanket I found in the hamper closet and taped it to a left over piece of drywall.
I picked up some moss from the dollar store and then I ground it up with an old coffee grinder, and then sprinkled it on top of the blanket, and then sprinkled some red sand that my daughter brought back from a trip to P.E.I.
No apologies needed. I think it all looks great! I especially like the bits of vegetation along the edge of the Waterway. BTW, it looks as if the big, bad Assyrians have somebody penned up against the shore. Whom are they facing? Oh, and the Assyrians' siege tower Camp looks great too. (And it can double as a lifeguard station. Grins.)

I went to Home Depot last week and bought a piece of 1/4" thick 2' x 2' MDF board. I plan to paint it grassy green on one side & sandy desert on the other side. Then I will be all set for 15mm scale standard size battles.
