There were half a dozen of my favourite armies on this list, any of which I would happily have fielded...... Colin - By that I’m thinking you are referring to: Bosphorans (obvs!) Ptolemaic Mithridatic LPIA Parthian .......and possibly Italian Slave Revolts or Meroitic Kushite Am I close?

I would have liked to have played the sixth game Simon but recognise that it puts pressure on the management of the day. What do others think? Thanks to BHGS, Magister Militum and especially to Simon. Colin Must admit I too would have preferred to play a sixth game, but understand Simon had said 5 games before the start and so some people had organised to leave at that time. However as we finished around 4.30pm I think we could have fitted another round in to finish around 5.30 and being from 'up north' I like value for money! Maybe 6 rounds next year? I am very open to running 6 rounds next year and would welcome input. The original thinking behind the 5 round format was to give people a good chance to get round the trade show and observe other games. That is easily changed! A format of games at 1015, 1115, 1215, 1345, 1445 and 1545 is perfectly possible. Regards Simon Simon

Kn gen; 4 Kn; 2LH; 2 solid Ax; 2 fast Bw; 1 Ps.
I toyed with the idea of taking the Art but ultimately opted for the Sarmatians (I picked the army because I already had Black Sea figures in the 'to do' collection and fancied lancers for this theme, so accepted 'more lancers' as the solution). I had some unlucky die rolls in critical combats which lost me a couple of games that might otherwise have been winnable. So a mid-table outing that wasn't really down to the army selection.
I picked Ax over Sp because the Roman Ax I took to Bakewell did me fine service, taking down several elephants including an elephant general. Unfortunately, against the Meroitic Kushite the Ax weren't in the right place for the job. I may have been outplayed in that instance.
Good to get another project ticked though, and a good addition to my collection.
Phil

Pretty much - Meroitic Kushite Ptolemaic Arabo Aramaean LPIA Celtiberian Ariarathid Kappadokians, Armenians and Blemmye have been fun to play with and often do very well. Bosporan were only just ready for this tournament. I mentioned the sixth round as at the beginning of the day Simon said we would play 5 or 6 rounds depending how the time went. Colin

Regards Simon Simon Would certainly prefer 6 rounds (after all it is probably the most expensive DBA competition on the circuit and us northerners like our value for money!) However I found there was plenty of time to: a) put stuff on and check out the Bring and Buy at the beginning b) Buy stuff and check out the other games at lunchtime c) Have a final look around after we'd finished. I don't think I left until around 5pm anyway and games were still going on then, so a 5pm finish would be fine with me, but it's up to you Simon.
