I'm seeking advice from the collective. With recent discussion on FB regarding Umayyad Arab (III/31) and Abbasid Arab (III/37) armies I started investigating armies of a similar ilk and period. My investigations led me to Qaramita (III/54). The composition of this army is 2x3Cv, 4xCm//Sp, 4xCm//3Lb, 1xLCm and 1xPs.
Which brings me to suitable 15mm figures. Apart from Essex, who does a range that will cover all troop types? TIA.
Cheers,

The listed codes are Saracens from the Crusade series. Camelry are 6 to a pack, Cavalry 9 and foot are 24.
2x3Cv, 6 cavalry = AA3 Andalusian heavy cavalry 4xCm//Sp, 12 camel riders = SC18 Bedouin Camelry 16 spearmen = SC19 Arab infantry (mix of sword and spear, keep sword seperate to form 3Bd or 4Bd) 4xCm//3Lb, 12 camel riders = SC18 Bedouin Camelry 12 archers = SC20 Arab archers 1xLCm 2 camel riders = SC18 Bedouin Camelry or pinch two Colonial Sudanese camelry. 1xPs. 2 archers = SC20 Arab archers
Extra cavalry, ‘blade’ (Zanj) and archers will form the core for an Abbasid army.

This is definitely a popular army.
As soon as 3.0 came out Mike Guth had already fielded it at Historicon. I also know of two other people not counting Gregg Kelleher that are also planning on building it.

Thanks for that Robert, especially providing the various codes. Cheers,

I looked at doing this army a while ago and selected a few ranges to mix to do the army and even started work on it.
For the General and Cavalry I chose the General figure from the Essex Crusader and Arab Conquest range. The Robed General in Turban looked well suited to leading in a ritious way and the spear armed cavalry in leather armour could carry off the pinkish look to their armour. The arab bowmen would also be suitable for the dismounted bow armed camelry.
For the Camelry I chose Museum minatures and even modified the stance of several of the one-piece camelry to shorten the base to fit the 40mm base depth.I even replaced the javelins on some for longer spear/lances. Museum also do kneeling arab spearmen, one with long oval shield and one unshielded.
For the camp I was going to use whatever spare figures I had with a Bueada Bedouin or arab tent.

I used Peter Pig Tauregs. Finished 2nd in the national championship. Played badly, lost a cavalry element on a 6-1 roll; still could have won with a 3-3 attack with me hard flanking the enemy. Sad. Never had a chance to win a national title before.... Khurasan makes Tauregs now. They look really nice and the molds are quite new. There are excellent examples of painted Peter Pig as Tauregs. I just change to faded red and pink as the colors. This is what we have documented about them.... pushingtinwargames.blogspot.com/2014/10/tuaregs.html#!/2014/10/tuaregs.html There is another even better painted army but I can't find it.

Gregorius, here are a couple photos of my friend, Eric Donaldson's 15mm III/54b Qaramita army. I'll invite him to detail which range of figures he used. As I recall, Eric did some rather back-breaking conversions on this army. Eric also created all terrain features here, placed over a " Cigar Box" game-mat.

A shout out to Paul for continuing to post pictures of my armies. I used Legio Heroica figures for the foot and camel riders. For the camels I used Aasgard (I think) from Viking Forge in the USA. I had to carve off saddles to make the Legio riders fit. Technically they are incorrectly riding astride the camels rather than perched on top. The shields are made from thin plastic. For the archers who used "enormous wooden bows which few men can bend" I removed the bows and drilled out the hands for a brass wire bow. And I bought up at least a dozen shades of craft store pink and light red paints to try and capture their supposed pink (or faded red) clothing.
