Thank you Diades for organising such an excellent day in the lovely Herefordshire countryside. Thank you also to my fellow competitors for their good humour and the warm welcome they extended to this DBA tournament ingenue. It was good to put faces to some of the illustrious names on this list. There are three competitions going on at Tarrington. The first is to win as many games as possible with the motley collection of armies present. The second is to provide the army which performs the best in the hands of six different players throughout the day. The third is to produce the worst performing army. I was hoping, with a psiloi and light horse heavy Medieval Irish army with five mximum sized terrain pieces all to be used if possible, to provide a challenge for the prize for this category. Guaranteed to do nothing but draw I thought. I realise now that I know nothing about designing a duff army. I shall remember the Brian Boru Irish with an English ally comprising a CWg, a single pike and a single spear for a long time. Genius. Well done to the prize winners and to all the rest who made the winning possible. I am looking forward to Tarrington next year and can highly recommend it.

...and those were the results from the Tarrington jury!
Thank you all for travelling and making it so easy to run.
More data available...let me know if you want to know any more.

Thanks for a great day. I clearly need lots of practice - chance would be a fine thing - but I always enjoy DBA. See you all again soon I hope. Pete

Having scooped the "most challenging army" with my Tuaregs a couple of years ago, was a bit miffed that they managed to do so well this time whereas Mark Johnson's Tuaregs, which only differed by a couple of elements, romped home (in as much as camels ever romp) in last place.

Mark's camels only had Tuaregs whereas Scott's had four?

Mark's camels only had Tuaregs whereas Scott's had four? Humps? The now extinct double Bactrians perhaps?

I am not sure the romping was a hump issue.

Thanks Martin, as always, for a really good tournament. As others have said, if you want to learn all the rules then play at Tarrington! A real tournament of two halves for me, three wins before lunch and then three losses afterwards. All my games were real blood baths as shown by my novelty position of being the slayer!
Where does one view any photos of the event, given the demise of YahooGroups?

There are some photos in the DBA (De Bellis Antiquitatis) Facebook group, aldavion, including a rather fetching one of you flanked by colinthehittite and sheffmark.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is'nt Tuareg a corruption of the the French 'trios legs', or is my Franglais letting me down here? Apologies to French language and Tuaregs if incorrect.

A dramatic scene from Tarrington. Surely this would make a great televised spectacle for the Olympics. ibb.co/Dz0cCL0

A dramatic scene from Tarrington. Surely this would make a great televised spectacle for the Olympics. ibb.co/Dz0cCL0Wow! I didn’t even realise we had an audience! There was more terrain on that table than open space 😀 Thanks Martin for a smoothly run day, and all my opponents and fellow competitors and helpers. Tarrington is definitely for the thinker! Some nasty armies with some desperate combinations, but I probably had the best of the match ups in most of my games. Lots of camels 🐪🐪🐪🐪 cheers everyone Craig
