Hello guys, I recently made a 15mm DBA version of the famous GoT "Battle of Bastards" showing Jon Snow Vs Ramsay Bolton. I d'like to present it here for all the Game of Throne fans. To avoid big mistakes i watched this battle several times but suggestions and opinions are always well accepted All the miniatures (except the giant) are Essex, i used green stuff to modify some of them. Painting style is a little dirty, usually i'm more clean, but it is ok to simulate the mud stains and the dirty look of the troops Jon Snow Army: 1x3Kn - Jon Snow, Davos and Stark men at arms (Com) 2x3Kn - Stark, Mazin, Hornwood and Mormont knights 2x3Bw - Stark, Mazin, Hornwood and Mormont archers 1El - Wun Wun, Tormund and wildlings followers 1X4Wb - Wildlings 1x4Wb or 1x4Bl - Wildlings or Stark & Co. men at arms 1x3Ax - Light Stark infantry with smaller shields and short spears/swords 1x3Kn - Arryn and Royce Vale knights sub command group 2x6kn - Arryn and Royce Vale knights Ramsay Bolton Army: 1x3Kn or 1x3 Cv- Ramsay Bolton, Bolton General and Bolton men at arms (Com) 2x3Kn - Bolton, Umber and Karstark knights 3x4Bw - Bolton regular archers 1x4Bl - Lord Umber, Bolton and Karstark sword and shield heavy infantry 1X4Sp - Umber, Bolton and Karstark spearmen 4x4Pk - Double based pikes with the front rank holding large pavises

They look fantastic! I wouldn't worry about a "dirty" painting style. Real troops were far from clean! Now with modern washes I get a more"dirty"look and I like it. If I remember correctly, Phil used a tan undercoat for his troops so if he missed some it would simply look like mud.
Which rule version are you using? DBA 3, HOTT, D3H2, Knights and Knaves? Other?
Cheers
Jim
PS Welcome to the forum!

Bolton's troops look nice, but a forum message says: "no more space for attachments" I have and i painted renaissance and medieval armies and they are full of colors and heraldry, these 2 armies are "50 shades of grey armies" I'm using DBA3 rules, usually i'm an historical player, this is just a funny experiment

Nice going Leon. Now we need dragons, Dothraki and a dwarf! thank you man! I found some interesting ancient cavalry and LH models from Museums and Essex, they could be turned in Dothraki, late samurai and feudal archers could become Lannister

Thanks, leonerampante1475, I based my efforts more on the books than on the episodes. I'm mightily impressed with your painting and flocking skills. And where did you get the detailed 15mm Game of Thrones sigils from or are they hand painted ?

Hi cyrusorc and leonerampante1475!
Thanks for both of those. I feel like I need to get painting. Although, apart from the General's stands, I guess 'generic' high Medieval troops would probably fit for most of the figures.
leonerampante1475, How does having the Dragon as a Wwg work on the table top? It is an interesting concept to keep it within 3.0 and avoid having to swap to HOTT!
Cheers, EG

Cheers, EG Hello eg407, I like Martin soft-fantasy, but i'm firstly an historical researcher, so i do not like HOTT so much...maybe it is better to avoid dragons and focus the efforts about Daenerys army before the use of the dragons on battlefields. By the way...a dragon has hardened skin; war-wagons are protected with hard wood and sometimes with wood + metal strappings. They fire with gunners, bowmen, crossbowmen; dragons "fire" at similar distance and both of them are large pieces on the battlefield. The only big difference is the movement, Wwg are slow...they do not cross rivers and bad going areas; dragons can fly, so i think a 500 paces movement and ignoring river crossing and bad going could be an enough-balanced solution. DAENARYS TARGARYEN ARMY (before dragons) 1x4Sp(Com) Grey Worm and unsullied or 1x4Wb (Com) Daario Naharis and "Second sons" or 1x3Cv Ser Jorah Mormont (Com) and Dothraki 3x2LH - Dothraki bow and javelin fast riders 2x4CV - Dothraki with shyte-swords, spears and javelins 2x6CV - Dothraki with shyte-swords, spears and javelins double based to increase the "horde effect" 1x4CV - Dothraki with shyte-swords, spears and javelins or 1x6CV - Dothraki with shyte-swords, spears and javelins double based to increase the "horde effect" 1x4Wb - "Second sons" mercenaries 2x4Sp - Unsullied spearmen Some miniatures suggestions: Unsullied: www.museumminiatures.co.uk/african-infantry-lts.htmlDothraki: www.museumminiatures.co.uk/numidian-cavalry.html, www.museumminiatures.co.uk/cavalry-trousers.html, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/products/bs38, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/products/ank13, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/products/ank18, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-macedonian-punic-wars/products/mpa41, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-macedonian-punic-wars/products/mpa103Second Sons mercenaries: www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-byzantine/products/bza7, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/crusades-middle-eastern-700-1400ad/products/cru10, www.essexminiatures.co.uk/products/moa7
