I had the pleasure last night of photographing my friend, Eric Donaldson's, brand new III/65 Nikephorian Byzantines. (15mm Khurasan Miniatures) Enjoy the Eye Candy. First, the 4x8Bw elements. Of course, he mounts a "few" more than 8 figures on the 40x40 bases. Have fun counting. (White primer, Litko bases.) The icons of St. Michael, et al, were downloaded and printed, but Eric painted all the shields. The next view shows off the 6Kn element. (Eric substituted Legio Heroica mounts for that one element.) And, lastly, I guess here they're off to their next engagement. ;-) Well done, Eric.

They are very nice figures and well presented, fella!
Closing in on finishing my first Khurasan Miniatures army and it’s been a real joy to paint 😎

Thanks for the kind words all. And thanks to Paul for taking (and posting) the pictures. To be fair to Little Big Men - the banners were purchased from that great outfit. I did make some reduced color copies for the cavalry banners however. I also took the liberty of swapping out the suggested middle bow figure on the Kavallarioi for a banner holding figure. One can never have enough flags in an army (this one sports 10). Especially with how nice the LBM ones are.

One more view. This catches a little bit of the Varangians (4Bd) at the far right. And, yes, Simon, they really are 15mm, and not over-sized 15's either.

I haven't used the army yet but I fear it may have too many "toys" leading to great confusion in the command staff.... (me). A tough choice will be to use the 6Kn or the Varangians (4Bd). The Blades could make the 8Bw quite intimidating vs other foot with their +1 flank support - all the way up to +4 (in 3.0 of course). Regardless new armies almost always go down in defeat in their first game. Or is that just my new armies.....?

Since some have asked me offline, the Plowed Fields shown above are a product from Hotz ArtWorks in British Columbia, Canada. ( Link.)

Very, very nice!!! One can see the irregularities in the hand painted shields (my preference although I have been thinking of stencils for some blazons) when looking closely, but they are still quite well done.
And (along with paulhannah's Persians) a good reason never to convert to the 'overbasing' heresy...

And (along with paulhannah's Persians) a good reason never to convert to the 'overbasing' heresy... It's a 'heresy' now ..... but everybody comes around to the true faith eventually. I will continue to spread the word.
