Another tease this morning of a future release from Khurasan Miniatures, this time figures for I/10 Melukhkhan & Pre-Vedic Indians. Yes, I had to go look up that army-list as well. Fast Pikes (or Spears) and Solid Bows. As always, they look fun to paint. But...they don't seem to resemble the one sketch of the Harappan figure, No. 205 in "The Two Nigels" (WRG's AANE), which is surely based on the dude at left here.

Love weird armies, so I'd be interested!

I quickly retract my above reservations. Apparently, Khurasan consulted with Duncan Head in designing the range. So, yeah, I'll bite on this range.

I presume Duncan Head then rejects the conclusions of Nelson in Aemies of the Greek and Persian Wars who goes with the Persepolis figures and the description of Herodotus as to the appearance of the Indians in the Persian army which comes closer to the Harrappan figure noted in the 'Two Nigels.' Particularly with respect to the head coverings which one would not expect to have escaped the attention of the Persepolis sculptor or Heredotus.
At least I used the Minifigs Z-84 and 85 which are based on that drawing as my Vedic and Pre-Vedics.
Much as I look forward on TMP to getting a reply from Mr. Head when posting a question on equipment or appearance of soldiers/warriors, I am not sold on those figures.
Besides I already have my army painted (although I am debating a conversion for the PK - removing shields from the Minifig javelinman)...

I just inquired with Khurasan to see if there was any update on the availability of this range. link
