Needless to say fab day. Thanks to all who organised supported and played. In the morning my opponents allowed me to fly close to the sun. In the afternoon my opponents gave me the valuable lesson of humility with crushing defeats. Armies were amazebobs as well. Concur absolutely - another great tournament put on by Paul and the team with great-looking boards and armies. Amongst other things, I had a thrilling to the wire game with Kim (losing 4-3), was annihilated by Baldie, completely out-foxed by Tamara and ended the day having the most guilt-ridden win ever against Martin M who must have thrown the longest string of 1 and 2s ever in the history of DBA against by equally foutrageous seies of 5s and 6s! Well lads, trying to send Richard to Doncaster worked well. Congratulations Richard, the southern invasion seems to have done very well. Tim ...so easy to misdirect drivers around all those confusing roundabouts! However, we all seem to have got there in good time. Can there be another DBA tournament anywhere in the world to match this event? The meticulous attention to organisation and management of the day is matched by a magnificent presentation of gaming boards and armies. What a joy to handle such gorgeous figures. Everything is provided, including DBA measuring devises and dice. The only possible improvement would be the organisers coming round with coffee and cake at just the right moment... I knew I’d get the Skythians and the massed horde, but hey, I had my share of luck and thoroughly enjoyed the day. And Richard!!! Congratulations on leading the southern contingent to glory. I bought a pack of figures from Forged in Battle and they kindly gave me a discount as I was playing in the DBA tournament and it was a nice surprise to receive a discount voucher from them as well. Thanks Paul et al. You do a great service to the DBA community and I appreciate the effort you make. Colin

Couldn't agree more. The Brussels contigent had a decent day too given Tom H's excellent score. (We will gloss over mine - 2 wins, both with light horse armies, and 4 defeats). Loved the varied elephants.

Yes indeed Paul. A bit of novelty for me to do well at the Northern Cup that is for sure. Over the years I have usually enjoyed a comfortable position somewhere between 12th - 18th and have been happy with that after a day of challenging games. Will anticipate a return to normal form next year, the luck will not last another year!
Thanks to Paul and West Wind/Forged in Battle for providing the prizes.
A great competition with everything provided. Lovely figures and very smart boards. Thank you Paul and Tony for your hard work in getting it all organised. An excellent day out despite a short detour in the morning. Looking forward to next year when at least I will know where I am going.
