I haven't tried it out, but when I visited my local art supply store yesterday, they had a poster explaining how to go about transferring images from a laserjet print to another surface.
The material they used was something like this:
gel
I was thinking of trying to print shield work through a colour laserjet and then transferring the image onto a miniature's shield.
Has anyone tried this?

Better off using decals. I had 2 issues when I tried a laser printer - the ink smudged and you could only print a whole sheet at once

I made decals using my inkjet printer and the afterspray is critical, testers makes a decal spray to stop the ink smudge, and just print your decals fast on a plain piece of paper, then cut a piece of decal paper the proper size and with a tiny bit of tape put it in the same place and run it thru the printer again on a high resolution...I have been getting great results
