It was a Tamil army and had 6 El. TomT I think you can only have five elephants, as the ally, Hindu Indian III/10c has 4 x 3Bw, so you have to have one of those. Scott

I take an Art in every tourney army due to my excessive fear of El. Feedback is that Art not that effective (but I haven't run in to many El myself). I find a fast Auxilia and some knights to provide overlaps are quite good against elephants. Then again if any army runs into 6 elephants I think they are kind of boned. 😋

Scott Yes, Scott, I think that was it - Tamil II/42b + Hindu III/10c rings a bell. Mine was 'pure' Tamil (3 x El, 3 x 3Bd, 3 x 3Bw, 1 x Ps, 1 x Cv, 1 x 3Wb). Comments that Arnaud's was a PIP drain army may be justified, but he's extremely competent and knows how to harbour resources and pick the right moment. He's always a tough opponent, no matter what he fields, and was a deserving winner. My own play with Tamils was more 'in your face' full on assault, which probably explains my losses due over-reaching with the nellies. Our game was one of my more tentative, cautious ones, as you're hard to beat and know all my tricks 😵 M

Its perfectly OK to play and win with a certain troop type/tactic. Afterall someone has to win and that does not automatically make that a "broken" army. I'd think El armies with allies would be a huge PIP drain (unless you have a great run of "6s" when needed).
Just trying to keep an eye out for dominant armies (dominant players are fine). Arnaud has advocated El for sometime and seeing to El base armies finish 1-2 against tough comp is enough to at least seek more data.

With the games I played in Historicon, I am closing in fast on more DBA 3.0 games played than any other version.
I am now up to:
DBA 2.2: 393 games
DBA 2.2+: 583 games
DBA 3.0: 516 games

With the holiday season upon us and travel and such, it is not likely I will be adding any more DBA games this year. Below are the totals including this week's games, which now makes DBA 3.0 the most played version so far. I am now up to: DBA 2.2: 393 games DBA 2.2+: 583 games DBA 3.0: 619 games

That's some impressive totals chaps. It would be even higher if we didn't stray and play other games sometimes.

After fighting with Excel last night and finding out some of the formulas weren't working these should be the current totals.
DBA 2.2: 393 games
DBA 2.2+: 583 games
DBA 3.0: 619 games
In the process of double checking my totals, I found the total numbers of games by year.
2018 168 games 2017 183 games 2016 151 games 2015 117 games 2014 216 games 2013 161 games 2012 200 games 2011 124 games 2010 99 games 2009 45 games 2008 65 games 2007 33 games 2006 18 games 2005 11 games 2004 4 games
You can tell that I got a consistent local player in the second half of 2010.

Well done Tony. 135 is a super result - I don’t think I managed a quarter of that! Not surprised that your DBA gaming tailed off though. Up until the autumn you and Mitch posted 3 games a month as regular as clockwork and they were a highlight to watch and learn while commuting or painting. Then it seemed to dry up a bit until the latest French vs Korean fight.
It is always good to see your armies on the table, share you love of collecting and painting figures, learn from your playing style and share on your good natured banter with Mitch. My own DBA collection has been influenced by following some of your armies.
If I may - requests for 2020: - more Book 1 Biblical battles. - more classic match ups - even if they repeat previous videos. - more Asian armies - I don’t own enough of these and so need the inspiration. - also can you try one army vs 3 different historical opponents to show how the army and game can vary.....or even a “winner stays on” type format.

After September it dried up due to the boys wanting to try other games instead of DBA. This means we didn't even play much DBA for the last fourth of the year. Honestly one of the problems we have is we have too many people on game night. If we film a DBA game, the other two players (or more if we have visitors) have to sit around without anything to do. My workload isn't helping at work as I am trying to avoid getting burned out with the exporting issues that videos can sometimes take. The Burgundian vs. Korean video took FOUR DAYS to straighten out and that was while I was on vacation. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the videos which we will continue to do until they become too much of a pain for me to edit/export/upload (which I solely do.) My preference is actually to film EVERY game we do but being punished with hours of exporting issues after each game isn't really my idea of a good time for my "hobby" which is supposed to be a form of therapy. I will take your suggestions into consideration, but until we get up to 1000 subscribers (so I can go live on Youtube) and cut out the annoying editing constraints, just be patient with what we can churn out.
