Im in Staufen near Freiburg. It's a bit of a drive but In sure it's possible to meet for a game.Travel by bus would be cheap and quite doable though. Cheers, Paul.

I'm here at Würzburg with two new armies, ready to rumble!
As a DBA greenhorn I liked the idea of building up 6 armies suitable for a Hastings 1066 tournament.
But unfortunately I started with Norse Irish III/46 and Vikings III/40b, and these oponents behave let's say slightly unbalanced in battle ... Oh, those bloody vikings!
But it's fun!

Here in Oz I built up a 10 army collection from that era for a campaign all the way back in the DBA1 era. The armies were morphed first for 2.2 and then for 3.0 and we found there was a distinct gap in capabilities across the 10. However in a campaign setting where the defender is decided by who launches the attack not a dice roll there was something of a stratification where the foot armies (dominated by Vikings and Scots Isles) duked it out in the north while the horsed armies had their own smackdown in the south (the Anglo Danes in the middle were usually beaten into submission early ) Cheers

What were your other armies? One of them Danes I presume ... (The early defeat of the Anglo Danes reminds me somehow of the role of Austria in Diplomacy. Is it mainly due to their position in the centre? Not only, the vikings are so tough. Hm, this stuff might be interesting enough to create a new thread in the Strategy section? The Crown of England 1066) Cheers

The Crown of England 1066) Cheers Hi Brian The armies I built were England - Anglo Danish Norway - Viking Normandy - West Frankish (originally the Norman option from Later Frankish Breton and Norman) Alba - Pre Feudal Scots Wales - Early Welsh (originally just Welsh before DBA3 expanded them) Flanders - West Frankish (originally the Frankish option from Later Frankish Breton and Norman) The Isles - Scots Isles and Highlands Ireland - Norse Irish Brittany - Breton (I have a suspicion that I didn't add this one until the publication of DBA2) Denmark - Leidang (once again added when DBA2 came out - at a time when Leidang and Viking were more different) I had a friend with mad photoshop skills make up a campaign map that starts with a 4 player map of the first four on the list then starts adding spots in the order above (I think). I have considered bringing the roster up to 13 (which is the limit of different coloured pins) to bring in Early Russian, Slav (Wends) and East Frankish but that would mean going back to scratch for the map. Cheers

Great, thank you! Somebody on boardgamegeek.com once made his 1066 version custom map of Risk Europe. Though the map is no longer available, you can get an impression here: boardgamegeek.com/image/3215308/risk-europeSend a message to me if you find this map useful, I think I've still got a file somwhere ... Cheers, Brian

Hello Gentlemen, here is Marios from the Ulmer Strategen-Club in Ulm/Baden-Württemberg. We are 4-5 DBA Players, and now after a long Break and after Covid we start again with our DBA Tournaments. Sprecht ihr auch deutsch oder wird hier nur auf englisch kommuniziert ?
