From an email I received earlier After our extended break over the summer, it is with heavy heart, that I am announcing the closure of Lurkio. The reasons for this are manyfold, but primarily a change in personal circumstances means will I not not have the time to devote to running the store and provide the service that is expected. My commitments are now to look after my family, and Lurkio is unfortunately just too much effort for me to continue with. Lurkio has been running for just over 10 years now. Starting with the Sassanid Persians to over a dozen ranges now - including some that never saw the light of day :-( Over those 10 years I have met a lot of new friends, and I thank you all for your support over this time. I hope that the ranges we have brought to light do not fade away, and I am looking to find someone to take over the ownership of Lurkio. I will leave the store running in browse mode while i try to find a buyer, or at least liquidate the stock. If you , or know anyone, that might be interested in purchasing Lurkio , then please do drop me a line at Simon@lurkio.co.uk Until then many thanks for all of your support over the years and good luck to you all. Thanks Simon

Unfortunate, but must be difficult running a small business such as this. I found Lurkio excellent to deal with.

I am really sad to hear this. Unfortunately, due to backlog I never got a chance to build any units with their figures.

A great shame, Lurkio has always been easy to deal with and offered remarkably fast shipping to the US. Not to mention having excellent figures.
Sadly, this seems to be the way of the world with the model soldier business: too much work for one man to handle as a hobby, not enough to function as a full time business. I hope the ranges find a good and worthy home, and that Simon has all the best luck in his future endeavors.

I ran a one man business as well, just as a retailer though but it was an absolute nightmare dealing with absolutely everything. Made some bad decisions as well which never helped. It's a real shame about Lurkio, when I first got into DBA last Spring, Lurkio were the figures that first caught my eye, absolutely love their horses across the ranges and would be a real shame to see them vasnish forever. (Plus I need more Sassanids )

REST CUT FOR CONVENIENCE
Only if things go well and smoothly most of the time can we reasonably expect people to deal with this year on year. I suspect many small businesses are one "disaster", bad month's sales, or yet another snotty customer email, away from closure or saying, to coin a phrase, "sod this for a game of soldiers".
Years ago Magister Militum sent me a 15mm elephant, without the head, in the meantime Zoe had found the head and awaited a customer letting them know it was missing.
Zoe kindly sent me the head, she thought her baby son had probably removed it from the package, he was crawling age, that baby is now a grownup 16 years old, and I still buy from MM when I need, although from the new year only WWII.
Luckily I was not a snotty customer, and very lucky the baby did not swallow the head.

I believe there is a good chance that someone will bring the range out again.

Range is relaunched today. From memory, the pack sizes are larger than they used to be - and hence dearer - but there is an introductory offer of 10% off orders placed before 26th December (20% for orders over £150).
The DBA army packs are no longer available, but given that the new owner has his own set of Ancients rules on the market, that's no great surprise.

The DBA army packs are no longer available, but given that the new owner has his own set of Ancients rules on the market, that's no great surprise. The original owner sold as individual bases or FoG battlegroups (or DBA packs).
The revamped site only offers packs similar in size to the FoG battle groups. Which makes them little better than unavailable for DBA - do you really want to buy 3 packs of a dozen figures each when you only want 2 figures of each type?
Maybe if teh DBA community commented as such on his Facebook site, he might get the message that he is missing out on a large market.

No worse than OG15, and for quite a few of the figures the pack size is not too out of line with the DBA army requirements.
On the other hand, I am not likely to be buying any of his figures in the foreseeable future as I already have enough from other manufacturers/
If I did Facebook I would probably support your suggestion though just on general principle.
