Please let me know by private mail if you will be attending this tournament.
The format will be matched pairs - bring along any two armies that were historical opponents as per the v3 army lists. Allies allowed. It is in your interests to make them as balanced a match-up as possible as your opponent will normally choose which of the two armies to fight with!
Please do not bring two armies with the samer number.
Don't worry if you haven't got any matched pairs of armies - I am sure we will be able to find loan armies. Also, although I expect most people will be bringing 15mm armies on 40mm BW, you are welcome to bring 25mm or other size figures on different BWs. Just let me know beforehand so we can make sure we have the right size tables.
Kind regards,
Simon

Hello all,
We are now just over four weeks away from the Bakewell matched pairs tournament and I thought it would be timely to ask people to let me know if they are planning on attending.
The following have been quick off the mark and confirmed their attendance already:
Richard Pulley, Scott Russell, Mark Johnson, Phil Johnson, Baldie, Tim Rogers, Graham Fordham, Tamara Fordham, Craig Allen, Keith Murphy, Andy Wheeldon, Paul Murgatroyd.
We also have another 4 or so possibles so numbers are looking good already!
David Constable has kindly offered to help run the event.
I am pleased to say that Gavin at Alternative Armies has generously offered some prizes and Richard Pulley will also be donating a prize.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be attending.
More details nearer the time.
Kind regards,
Simon

Gavin from Alternative Armies has now sent me the figure pack prizes he is kindly giving to the tournament - and very nice they look too. I am quite tempted to elope with them before the event!
If you are planning to come, do let me know as soon as possible as I may need to restrict numbers.

Hi Simon, How do I find out more about this event? Location, entry fee; that sort of thing? I can be free that weekend and was wondering if I can make it. Hi Christine, It would be great if you could make it. Key details are Saturday 20 October 1015 start in the Medway Centre Bakewell. Normally free parking just outside. Entry fee is £5.00. Lots of pubs and takeaway sandwich shops within a couple of minutes walk. Free tea, coffee and cakes. The format is matched pairs - bring along two historically matched armies as per the version 3 army lists, allies allowed if all within the same time period. It is in your interest to bring along a fairly balanced pair of armies as your opponent will normally get first choice if your pair is being used. Most people will be bringing along armies in 15mm sacle on 40mm bases but, as your armies will only fight each other, you can bring along armies on any base widths. Just let me know up front so that we can make sure larger boards are available, We are now up to 18 players so do let ne know soon if you want to come. Kind regards, Simon

I had a wonderful time. Six great games against the nicest people to ever pick up a die. I'll definitely add next year to my calendar.

Congratulations to Richard Pulley for coming first in the tournament. Scott Russell came second and then there were three people with equal points - Martin Myers, Paul Murgatroyd and Mark Johnson with Martin just pipping the others once sums of opponents' scores were factored in. Craig Allen's pair of armies were voted the most different and Nick Wright-Carter won the resilience prize for not being as close to the top as everybody else!
Richard, Scott and Nick walked away with prizes kindle donated by Alernative Armies and Craig Allen received an unpainted DBA Egyptian army donated by Richard Pulley.
More details to follow with complete rankings.
I just did a few sums and worked out that we have had 288 DBA tournament games in Bakewell this year in the course of the two tournaments.!

Off topic, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.
I saw some lovely 2x2 neoprene mats at the tournament (even got a chance to play on one).
Can I ask where I can get one of those, please?
