I lost a game against a player who fielded Skythians (I/43, not sure it was a or b), and I was playing the Serbian Empire (IV/22).
He was the defender, and was able to keep the flanks of the board free of terrain, and just moved some of his light horse so quickly down the field, and sacked my camp while he had let me engage my forces on his remaining army.
I was wondering if anyone has had any success in Tournaments with LH armies...
Maybe it depends how you define, "success".
Years ago, in Midnight Madness, I ran IV/35 Mongol Conquest, which then still had a minimum of 8 x LH. Don't recall the opponents. I survived only into the 2nd round, but I got a whole lot more sleep than did The Two Davids and all the other really good DBA players at those East Coast cons. So, that's "success", right? (Nyuk, nyuk.)
I used a skythian army at the last paws event, won a couple with it but the rest were all really close games. I did have seluecid allies though but primarily it was light horse. All about the speed and ability to press a weak point if there is one or using their speed to draw elements out of a strong line
The games I have won with LH armies (either skythian or attilas huns) I have used a weird formation, basically a wedge but on one side to stop the boxing in and loss of two elements when in column. Works surprisingly well when combined with in the main, being able to zip about
