For 2018 I've been asked to run the DBA competition at MOAB and I'm pleased to announce that registration is now open for DBA at MOAB. MOAB is held on the October long weekend in NSW, 29/9-1/10. However, DBA will be run on the Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be a 6 round historical matched pairs tournament, and on Sunday there is a 6 round campaign to determine who will be the first Shogun. Registration can be found here www.motherofallbattles.org/tournaments-register/ together with player's packs detailing each day's conditions of play. I'm looking forward to running this event. Cheers,

I'd rather be the first Phantom Agent, but first Shogun will have to do. Look forward to seeing all the usual suspects there. And thanks to Greg for taking on the task of organiser, filling the big shoes of Stephen.

I am now registered so will be carefully considering the Matched Pairs I bring to the party and the Samurai chosen 12.
I should have enough for a second Samurai army and Steve Hopkins has dibs on that.
Cheers

Registrations continue apace for MOAB and that space for the various tournaments is about to be allocated. With this in mind, I thought that it was appropriate to let prospective players know is that DBA is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. So to avoid disappointment, get your entry in as soon as possible.

Great news! It seems that I was a trifle premature at calling the limit for DBA at 12 players. The organisers have assured me that at the stage no limits are in place at this stage. But don't leave it too late to get your registration in as circumstances could change.

DBA at MOAB is less than 3 weeks away. At this stage there are 7 players registered for Saturday and 8 for Sunday. Numbers are a bit down on previous years, so if you are considering playing DBA I recommend that you register before Friday to ensure that you take advantage of the early bird discount. If you are aware of any other potential players please encourage them to register for what should be a great weekend of gaming. On another note, arrangements are well in hand for the First Shogun campaign. I have assembled 9 BUA objectives, sourced 500 plastic gold coins, a treasure chest for the umpire's hoard, drawstring bags to hold your gold, and made about 16 metres of roads.
Looking forward to seeing you at MOAB.

Less than a week until DBA at MOAB and there is only 1 spot remaining in the First Shogun campaign on Sunday. The Saturday Historical Pairs competition has reached maximum numbers.

I have yet another spare Samurai army (Steve H is borrowing one of my spares) so that 1 spot does not need to own a Samurai army - you just can't muster up all the options I will bring the extra one on spec and look forward to the additional contender for Shogun buying me a drink Cheers

MOAB has come and gone for another year. This was my first time as an organiser at MOAB. For Day 1, Historical Pairs was the flavour of DBA on offer. There were 10 players with a great variety of armies. The results are as follows:
1st David Lawrence with 4 wins, 1 draw and a loss with a differential of 10. 2nd Stephen Hopkins with 4 wins and 2 losses with a differential of 10. 3rd Mark Brandon-Baker with 4 wins and 2 losses with a differential of 5.
The remaining placings were Craig McGarty with 3 wins and a differential of 5, Greg Kelleher 3 wins and a differential of 4, Rob Grierson with 3 wins and a differential of 3, Guy Sheppard with 2 wins and a differential of -4, Mark Hinton with 1 win and a differential of -3, Peter Braham with 1 win and a differential of -7, and Peter Phelps with 1 win and a differential of -10.
Thanks must go to Ian Hinds of Hinds Figures for providing a voucher for the value of £50.00, Barry Scarlett for vouchers for his Leadbear's Tufts, and finally to Peter Callan who provided the beautiful trophy.
Cheers,

Day 2 of MOAB and The First Shogun campaign was on offer. All 12 element armies were to be constructed from the III/55 list. There were 8 players contending to be the First Shogun. Over 4, 6 bound rounds alliances were formed and trashed, backs were stabbed and honour was in short supply. At the end of the campaign there could only be one First Shogun, but there was a twist in that Stephen Hopkins and Mark Brandon-Baker completed the campaign with 61 pieces of gold each. The only way that it could be settled was a combat to the death with General versus General. With the head of his defeated opponent mounted on a spear Stephen was acknowledged as The First Shogun.
Michael Spitzkowsky won the Spirit of DBA award for his attempted kamikaze attack on Mark Brandon-Baker's flank?
Thanks must go to Ian Hinds of Hinds Figures for providing a voucher for the value of £25.00, Barry Scarlett for vouchers for his Leadbear's Tufts, and finally to Peter Callan who provided the beautiful trophies.
