I got an email from Nic at Eureka stating that he has the masters in hand for the new 15mm Sumerian range. He expects to start the molding process right away and should start shipping the figures in a couple of weeks.

Question: Are Sumerians and Akkadians essentially interchangeable? In other words, would this range be plausibly accurate for I/11a Akkadians and/or I/11b Third Dynasty of Ur?

It must've been cool in the "Olden Days" to be the only kid on your block with a straddle car! The wind in your hair and to hear da lamentations of da wymin and all that.
Look like excellent sculpts. I also look forward to seeing some painting to match and some reviews from those who decided to delve deep into history.

Nic Robson stated in his last email, the battle car and straddle car are the last items to be placed in a mould. Casting should begin soon and a bonus figure will be added as a gift for all pre-orders; a beer drinker.
My work bench has been cleared for some time, but by the end of the month I should begin construction of a Sumerian village. This will be completed before the arrival of the Sumerian figures.

Question: Are Sumerians and Akkadians essentially interchangeable? In other words, would this range be plausibly accurate for I/11a Akkadians and/or I/11b Third Dynasty of Ur? For I/11a the answer is maybe. The Akkadians on the Victory Stele of Naram-Sin appear more lightly equipped then the Sumerians on the Standard of Ur or the Stele of the Vultures. No cloaks, no big shields. Just kilt, hand axe, and pike. Naram-Sim is armed with a box, which may make a shift away from poking with pikes to archery.
For I/11b the cloaks would again likely be gone and equipment lighter due to Akkadian practice. Big Sumerian shields (if still in use) might be being replaced in whole or in part with the small rectangular Amorite shield.
That said, records for that time are very spotty. So, they might be perfectly fine. I suspect they're too heavily armored, but there is plenty of room to disagree.

I received my two DBA Sumerian armies today. These will be unpacked next week as I am finishing the Napoleonic British and Portuguese.
