With a total disregard for my painting deadline I cracked when I visited Britcon and got a Later Achaemenid Persian starter army. Wish I had bought the painted army I saw but the Xyston figures I got will match up against my Greek types.
Actually decided to start with Early Achaemenid Persians so also picked up some Immortals as well.
Usually I like to stick my figs to bases before painting but with 2 x 7 man hordes and 4 x 8 man bow there is no way I could paint them correctly.
Got em cleaned up and deflashed so will stick to some coffee stirrers for painting this weekend and get em undercoated.
Really looking forward to getting em done as my Greeks have wanted a good scrap for ages.
Starting with the following until I get round to doing a chariot for the General.
1 x Cav Gen 1 x Cav 1 x Light Horse 4 x 8 Bow 1 x 3 Aux 2 x 7 Horde 2 x Psiloi

Those Persians sure had a flare for colours.

I a def more of a gamer than a painter so blue tac has been used to stick em to bases. If I get some games in I usually get excited enough to slap em up with some colour. Want to get first bases done this month.

Also just noticed I have based the hordes on 40x25mm bases rather than 40x30 Picked up wrong pack Well at least they are easy to build.

I don’t think you will need to worry about troops being knocked over by an energetic die cast.

Yes in this case the troops really are the weapon. All collected from a recent dog walk.
Was considering drying and crushing some leaves as the scatter but really like coarse grass foliage.
