One minor request: any chance the troop picture can be shown with the corresponding number of figures on it! So HI with 4 guys instead of 1? It would evoke the right idea for beginners!

Eek! Thanks Jim. It’s a bit awkward what with Bd, Pk, Wb, Bw and Ax having 4 ‘solid’ or 3 ‘fast’ figures, but I could have 4 figures on these cards and just leave it to people to remember that ‘fast’ troops have one less figure per element (2 less if Hd). Ho kay...leave it with me. By the way, that “Terrain Hint Card” had a minor error on it. The word “beyond” was in the wrong place. I’ve now corrected it and edited and updated post fanaticus.boards.net/post/13639/I’ve also taken the liberty to rearrange some of the wording to add more clarity. (Interesting to note that Command Range is reduced if fully beyond a BUA or Camp... ...but shooting is only blocked by being fully beyond a BUA, and not a Camp. So being out-of-sight behind a Camp is enough to confuse a General when giving orders... ...but shooters can still see the target with no problem. Oh well, I didn’t write the rules...) Perhaps the easiest way to add the appropriate picture, is to photograph an actual element. Here is a simple example I made for my Grandson. I did a quick conversion of the nice original cards with the blade picture. Best perhaps would be just a blank hint card, and people can add their own figures in the picture.

That is a very good idea Bob. Yes, I would encourage players to not only download Jim1973’s excellent “Hint Cards”, but to change the picture to suit themselves. However, considering the appalling quality of my own inadequate and ham-fisted painting skills, I dare not put pictures of my elements on them...rather than encourage new players, it might frighten them off! So for the moment I’ll just have to hunt around for some nice picts to comply with Primuspilus’ request. (which should be ready by Monday). I must say that I do like the idea of personalised cards with your own elements. Great idea Bob!

Steven and Jim, one thing that you guys can do is to create a set of blank cards for each of the various troop types rather than the generic ones. So make a blank solid blade, fast blade, solid warband , fast war band etc. What program did you use to create the original cards? The formatting and fonts are very well done.

stevie was responsible for the formatting and the illustrations (as well as ensuring the content was correct!) and I was as impressed as you when he sent them through. It was all done on Word so removing the illustrations shouldn't be difficult. The original Word documents are quite large, hence the PDFs. But without the illustrations, they may be small enough to post. Alternatively, we could move/copy the files to the Wiki so not to clutter the forum? Your thoughts stevie?
Cheerss

Oh, nothing special was used Bob...as Jim says, just Microsoft Word (Calibri font, size 11, margins 12.7mm), and Paintshop Pro 7 for the pictures. (yes, it's an old piece of software, but then again, so am I!) Shouldn't be much problem in removing the pictures and then posting the raw Word document. I just need to make sure the overall card size doesn't alter as each picture is removed. Leave it with me. BUT, if you want to see something really, Really, REALLY impressive, have a look at what Jim did for all the armies he possess:- A few of Jims armies.pdf (138.4 KB)

Here you go Bob, and anyone else who wants blank Hint Cards so they can put their own picture on them. Pictureless Hint Cards for DBA 3.0.docx (46.25 KB) Note that as you add a picture to the left hand side, the overall card size will increase. You can adjust this by deleting or changing the front size of the line spaces both above and below your picture. Providing you keep the bottom left hand words “Speed in Rough/Bad Going” level with the last words in the right hand “Tactical Information Box”, you should do fine.
