So years ago I picked up a couple of packs of Indian Maiden guard of ebay.
Then came acquisitions of a couple of lots of Indians off TMP and elsewhere with more Maiden Guards. Ultimately 54 figures.
But while they were in DBM army lists, no DBA list has them.
At this point I got to thinking that there are enough of them to make a core for a HOTT army.
The figures I have are Chariot and Essex, therefore basic spear and shield equipped foot.
I see Xyston has mounted Indian Maiden Guard and Irregular has mounted and foot variants for their Khmer.
Are there any other manufacturers doing Maiden Guard figures either as mounted or armed with alternate weaponry?

I understand that you are talking about a HOTT army - so you'll have lots of poetic licence. However, historically is there any evidence of a Maiden Guard in any Indian army in any sort of numbers at all?
There is Strabo XV.1.55, quoting Megasthenes "Now the care of the king's person is committed to women, who also are purchased from their fathers........and the women ride partly in chariots, partly on horses, and partly on elephants, and they are equipped with all kinds of weapons, as they are when they go on military expeditions with the men." This hardly indicates a large numbers of women in a unit.
The Kalidasa's Shakuntala talks about one Greek woman with a bow and there are a few reliefs showing armed women....and that's about it.
This hardly enough evidence to justify a DBM or BBDBA element let alone a DBA element. Sorry if that has rained on anyone's parade.

Original post subject reads "HOTT", so I doubt you are raining on that parade!

Yes indeed, the reconsideration of whether there actually was a significant "Maiden Guard' is what moves the figures into the ranks of HOTT.
Now just to come up with some archers and smelly crews - some of the Essex or Chariot figures can be 'converted' to BD and will work as chariot crews as is.
Kali might make an appearance as well...

I think Ganesha will show up for the boys when they come out to play.
Kali seems to fit more with a bunch of females out for blood...

I once went through a collection of all the fragments of Megasthenes and came away with the impression that the maiden guard were actual bodyguards rather than a military formation. If one's making a historical army, putting 1-2 figures on the general's base is probably the most that's appropriate.

Irregular Miniatures do Khmer maiden guard, both foot and mounted but they are not very distinguishable from the male Khmer
Hall of Ancient Warriors also do Khmer maiden guard or at least the mounted version - and they would fit in well with a HOTT army
