I'm looking to build a Hoplite army, and would love nice to paint slightly chunkier, and completely stereotypical Hoplites.
Corinthian Helmet, shield forward.
So far I've seen ForgedInBattle Spartans, and Xyston Athenians which seem to make good versions of what I want.
I have no problem with 18mm big lads, and I want them to paint up nicely, and my experience is to have really good if more expensive figs so that painting is fun.
Does anybody know of any other companies that do this? As I said, I know Xyston, and ForgedInBattle...
I'm currently using Warfactory Republican Romans vs Corvus Belli Carthaginians.
My history of companies that are still in business is not great!
Thanks, Chris

Wave time and go for Xyston, for me best figs ever. Well Corvus too but not as big a range.

OldGlory 15s are surprisingly fun...! Check them out. They just have a kick-ass and up-f***ingness feel to them!

Thanks guys! But see I'm looking SPECIFICALLY for Corinthian Helmets. If I could cartoonify the figs to be just a big nose sticking out under a nose guard, with a crest, spear, feet, and a shield I'd do it (actually would love a DBA army that looked like that came off the pages of Asterix) Old Glory is close, and Xyston look nice, but not sure if my phallanx will look like 300 with armor (as opposed to thongs)

Try AB figures. They are beautiful but there may be some open faced helmets mixed in. Also try the Greek mercenaries under the Achaemenid Persians at Khurasan miniatures.
Cheers

Will do. Thanks!
Quick related question. What happened to Corvus Belli? They only sell Infinity now... Was the ancients line discontinued? Those are SUCH great minis!

The Celts and Romans have been re-released by Totentanz Miniatures. I think they have plans for more releases.

I know Essex have allowed me to request specific figures per pack before, maybe Xyston may be as obliging?

Have a look at Donnington's Hoplite range - chunky, easy to paint, a range of clothing, nice big shield, and with a lovely Corinthian helmet. Spears are vertical but I bent mine to be facing forward at about 45 degrees.

If you don't mind cartoonish types, check out the 15mm Tin Soldier range. I think they are fun!
