Another well presented documentary by Kings and Generals. This one covers the Umayyad siege of Constantinople and has just been posted to YouTube. Has all the hallmarks of a fine mini-campaign. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4BtmRMwYmw

Thanks, Robert. Really good summary history of the background situation, the conflict itself, and the aftermath.
If only some of the key engagements had been presented as tabletop-ready, DBA scenarios, complete with OOB's and deployment positions. (Grins.)

While viewing the video I thought about the battles leading up to the siege could be played out as standard games. The Byzantine did make use of naval transport so could have a Littoral advantage over the Umayyad.
Unfortunately, other priorities keep me focused on the Merovingian campaign and the painting of more troops for this project. Shortly, the Byzantine will be requesting assistance from the Franks with their war against the Ostrogoths.
