Which type of Blade element do you consider to be the best? Or which type of Blade do you choose to use?

3Bd- for speed and their ability to pass through terrain, especially rough going, by comparison to the much more cumbersome 4Bd. M

My favorite blade is a either a. a knight (who can dismount as a blade) b. a spear (who fights as well as a blade but is better against knights) or c. a camel-who dismounts as a spear......d. A 6 figure blade, because they can actually beat other blades....
There's not much penalty for being a 'fast blade' or 'fast pike' in DBA 3.0. This contrasts with the new TRIUMPH rules by the Washington Grand Company where the "Raider", a fast blade, is not as good against knights and mounted as other close formation foot troops.
Some of the preference depends on context. For example, would I be playing against army lists with 6 figure knights? Then, my favorite blade is whichever blade is in a list with an aggression of zero or even better, below, because 6 figure knights in the open are really likely to ride you down, barring a tie which is 5/36, less if the general of the knights is involved.
A Warband is a useful tool to have in the box to help deny bad going to fast blades.

Which type of Blade element do you consider to be the best? Or which type of Blade do you choose to use? I tend to think more about which army do I want to build, based on recent reading, than the troop types. However, where it becomes difficult for me is armies that have two types. The increased movement of 3Bd is very tempting, but a number of solid 4Bd is also very appealing, The fact that 4Bd feature in many classical armies I have an interest in helps simply the choice. DBA 3.0 such good balance and deciding on these choices can be so problematic.

This is partly why I'm asking this question, as the choice of type of Bd in an army can influence the way it plays. 3Bd in Later Indian armies are well suited to keeping up with the Bw and El but suffer to push backs to Solid Bd as do Celtiberians to steady Legionaries. Early and Late Swiss are armies that can choose 3Bd/4Bd or 6Bd which all perform differently, its which choice suites your style of play.

I tend to win a lot of games against polybians with my celtiberians: the terrain is of my choosing and I can easily manoeuver through it ! Fast blades are good and easier to play (imho)
