I saw in the recent Slingshot the write up that Martin provided on this Tourney, and excellent it was. Good to see a piece that looked at the mental approaches of different players. Some with strategies and others less so. The explanation has made put this in the diary as an Event to attend and catch up with all the great guys I have met at PAW’s events and Alton, and hopefully others.
Thanks
Peter

Thanks Peter Appreciated.
Yes, Tarrington for me (and many others) is one of the best tournaments in the UK, and certainly one of the most fun days out possible.......so many challenges, a true roller-coaster ride every time 👍👍

For those not familiar with the Tarrington November meeting, it is a real brain teaser, you only play with your own choice once, the rest of the games with other peoples armies.
If you want a day of learning DBA3.0 fast then this is a hard, fast, fun day of learning. You might take an infantry based army, then play with camels, cavalry, light horse or elephants in games, you can end up using anything.
I once took Tuareg, in my first game against Scott who was using MY army I totally forgot the camels were not affected by the sand, my pike line quickly was destroyed.

P.S. - the food is not bad either.

I also enjoyed Martin’s article. A very interesting format and fascinating reading different people’s approach and challenges.

It really is an excellent tournament, just pure enjoyment from start to finish! (although running out of fizzy drinks and no shop nearby hurt my feelings a bit!) I am thinking of taking the sassanids to the next one

Full details here too then...
DBA Tarrington Tourney 2018
Saturday 10th November 2018, 1000 until 1700
Lady Emily Community Hall Tarrington Herefordshire HR1 4EX
Tarrington is halfway between Hereford and Ledbury; approximately 11 miles from junction 2 of the M50.
Format: “Scramble”
Each player brings any valid 12-element v3.0 army on 15mm base sizes (40mm frontage), camp (camp follower element optional), and terrain for a legal battlefield as the defender, which may include provision of a specific legal board size. Note that the army will be used by other players. • Players will play AGAINST their own army only in the first round. • Players will use their own army only in the final round. • Players will be matched using Swiss chess format. • Armies will be matched as far as possible to maximise variety (of army used and fought against) for players. • The 12-element army and terrain choices may not be changed between rounds. • Players must use all terrain pieces supplied. The aim is to have 6 rounds, but may be revised on the day.
Depending upon the number of players and the time to arrange the pairings for each round, there is no guarantee of non-repetition, but priority order will be given to:
1. New opponent each round
2. New army used each round
3. New opposing army each round
Cost will be £5 per player and includes lunch!

...and thank you Martin Smith for an excellent advertisement by way of fascinating article in Slingshot.
Personally I was pleased by how many players went with options they had recently painted or not used before. Always the best approaches to any tournament in my book.

Result!! Got the day off, by the look of the provisional November work roster, so ‘game on’...👍👍👍👍
Now to finish off my tosh army, and find some inappropriate terrain for it to prance around in 🤪

Given Big Al's performance last year, just go for pretty...anything could happen. I am aiming to create the usual suite of trophies this weekend.

Hi All, Anyone know if there are any places left for this? If so, how do I register? Regards Tim Tim. Just confirm you are coming in advance. Pay on the day. There is plenty of room. I just need to know in advance for lunch numbers ( no shops near / on premises). You'd be most welcome.
