Tim the Madaxeman (www.madaxeman.com) produces an annual comparison of the popularity of various rulesets based on information from competitions held in the UK.
This year, it includes information about DBA, which was the 4th most popular set with a total of 64 players taking part during 2017. He also notes that DBA appears to be increasing in popularity year on year (49 players in 2015 and 56 in 2016).
Onward and upward.

DBA is about 1/3 as popular as the French game, However, DBA is 26 years old in concept And still so popular.

Armati, Fields of Glory, DBM, Hail Caesar, ... the list of competitors goes on and on. Many of them now dead (or at least pruned back to a mere sapling)...
That said, I suspect DBA is likely 20-40% (unsubstantiated guess) more popular than it appears, since it remains a very accessible game for non-tournament, non-club players, in terms of minis count, setup and take down, ease of storage, and fast, believable results, in the majority of cases.
