...and the element sides must also stay parallel to that road's centre line. That's the best solution. (By the way, I like roads being 'roughly' half a BW wide...they look nicer)
That is how we play roads AND how wide we model them.

To be clear, we can still model roads as 1/2 BW, but with extra verge of good going to either side, like a lot of folks do with river banks. Still will look like a 1/2 BW road, but simplifies some of the verbiage? Just a thought.
Also, Stevie, what does "sides parallel to the road" mean, if the road is curving a bit? Don't you mean "with sides parallel to the tangent"?...
Sorry, I know, too many years of General Relativity and studying tangent spaces on manifolds...
