Hello, I just watched Tony's video "Neo-Assyrians vs. Neo-Baylonians" at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0znwpY8D0kMy question: At 6:06 (time) the denizens of the BUA loose the close combat 7 : 8. I thought that you'll have to destroy the troops in a BUA in order to sack it. Like it is said on page 10 of the rulebook: "Combat cease when the defender ist destroyed ..." So the attacker has to double the defender ... doesn't he? Furthermore: I thought denizens defending their city get combat factor 2 + 2 (not 2 + 4)? Cheers, Ronald.

Tactical factors +2 If camp followers or other foot defending their camp or denizens their city and either in close combat or shot at.
If its total is less than that of its opponent but more than half: Destroyed if sacking a city or if defenders of a city, fort or camp or denizens or camp followers that have sallied or mounted infantry in bad going.
One question that arises for me, is does a city being sacked still exert a threat zone? It does not get to plus 4 Garrison factor, but would defend with the element's combat factor. No where do I see a reference to a city being sacked not getting a TZ. Note that a garrisoned fort gets the TZ, so I assume ungarrisoned one does not.

Hi Bob, yeah, thank you ... I only read the combat outcomes ... but not the heading text Cheers, Ronald.

If its total is less than that of its opponent but more than half: Destroyed if sacking a city or if defenders of a city, fort or camp or denizens or camp followers that have sallied or mounted infantry in bad going. Does this sentence mean that the following are destroyed: - Elements sacking a city
- Defenders of a city. fort or camp
- Denizens or camp followers that have sallied
- Mounted infantry in bad going
or does it mean: - Elements sacking a city
- Defenders of a city fort or camp that have sallied
- Denizens or camp followers that have sallied
- Mounted infantry in bad going
I think it means the latter but not sure.
Thanks
Simon

I read it as the first. Units in camp or fort cannot recoil, so if they lose the consequence is to die. To counter-balance this, they get a bonus in combat.

In addition to Michael's comment, only denizens and Camp followers can Sally. Regular troops just leave so he rule for sally does not apply to them. Thus the first list.

Thanks both for clarifying. What led me to ask the question is that the Defenders of a city fort or camp is repeated at the top of the doubled section on combat results so I wondered if it meant something different as the result for the other categories (eg mounted infantry in bad going, sallying denizens is not repeated.)
Regards
