Had that situation with pips come up on a few occasions. A couple of years ago I commanded the cavalry wing of a Carthaginian double army during a game against a Roman army. My pip rolls were so bad I never got deployed from the original column. On the other hand while my partner's warbands died gloriously (and quickly) I hung in for an amazing number of bounds with spectacular combat rolls. Finally lost Hannibal and that was it.
Even better on the OG15s - prepping them this evening I discovered several archers and javelinmen with breaks in one of their ankles - epoxy time...(and another call to OG)
Got the command pack off of ebay several years ago, obviously opened - 15 standard bearers (5 of one and 10 of the other) and 3 sets of 4 officers. Thinking of doing a couple extra command elements for BBDBA - a 4BW and a 3WB or two.
The javelins do convert reasonably well. Am thinking looking at the actual club armed figures that I won't even need to build up the shafts for the converts as I did with the Indians.
And yes those Black Hat packs are more convenient (and Ochmann figure...). Problem with picking up packs off ebay and then fleshing them out at a later date. Sometimes paints one into a bit of a corner.

The order of Biblical armies from Black Hat Miniatures arrived late yesterday. Today was spent cleaning and priming the Nubian army; one general, two warband, six 3Bw archers and three psiloi.
Extra figures will also be painted as two will form a camp follower element and the remainder will join the Old Kingdom Egyptians as Medjay.

The Hyksos are painted and now have been given a varnish. That will dry overnight so tomorrow will I can finish the groundwork for the bases.
With the Nubian done, the second command of Old Kingdom Egyptians remain and they will be cleaned and undercoated on Monday. Hopefully, by the end of the week there should be photos and brief write-ups posted to the blog.

Looking forward to seeing them, particularly the Nubians.
As I wrap up some Indian, Chinese, Greeks, etc. I am starting my Nubians while awaiting the horses for my Amazons and (hopefully) a half dozen Nubians as replacements for those with broken legs.
So far a bit over 2 dozen with skin (dark roast) and (black) hair painted. Will probably do a number with a different shade on their skin and some mud coiffures.
Then comes the various hide/leather/cotton kilts.
At any rate, as stated, looking forward to having another example to crib from.

The Nubian, Hyksos and Old Kingdom Egyptians. Painting these three armies took about a week each. There was no need to rush as I was researching material for an upcoming project.
Rather than posting a separate page for each I have presented the lot as one post with photos and a bit of text. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2018/02/the-nubian-hyksos-and-old-kingdom.html
This essentially finishes the refurbishment project ‘plus’ as the Sumerians are still being designed. Projected completion date for the Eureka Sumerians is May or June.

Early Egyptians vs. Nubian (3000 BC) My regular DBA opponent had to reschedule and as the board was laid out, I gave the Nubians their first test games.
In general, I do not use bow heavy armies as I enjoy bringing the fight to my opponent as opposed to passively sitting back. That changed somewhat after the three games. dbagora.blogspot.com/2019/10/early-egyptians-vs-nubian-3000-bc.html

Thanks for adding to this thread. I can go back over the whole project. These are not armies I usually see used.

Great battle reports.
I have very little experience with armies that have Bd elements and from what I read on many posts in this forum, that they are a formidable troop type.
Nice to see the Nubians giving the Egyptian blade some grief.

The 3Bd are useful, but in all three matches they did not perform to their usual standard. The higher priority for the Egyptian was dealing with the ‘dance of death’ from Nubian archery.

As always,interesting.
Particularly the opting for 2 PS rather BW. I was short of archers for my OG15 BBDBA Nubians and so only built 20 elements of 3BW and 4 elements of archer PS.
Now that the OMKs are varnished, should to get them varnished as well and have a go.
