Hi Dave
The last time I ran the Glasgow leg of Good, Bad and Ugly was 2019. I've not been in contact with Terry since then. If it was to run it again I'd need to find a venue, as the Phoenix Club still doesn't have access to the hall. I've not heard if there are any other legs taking place in Scotland, there are probably a few happening in England.
Cheers Euan

The Glasgow leg of the 2018 Good, Bad and Ugly Hordes of the Things tournament took place last Tuesday, the 6th of November. We had 14 players and played three rounds. The winner was Mark Grindlay with his Saxon Dogs army. This was fitting given the theme was Land of the Giants, as Mark was the tallest person taking part. 😊 Mark Prentice took the Wooden Spoon, he was using his Angry Ginger Dwarves army. The players voted Allan Balsillie's Deep Dark Forest army as the best theme army and Paul Dowsland's Cloud Nine cloud giants stronghold was voted the best stronghold. Euan

The Glasgow leg of the 2018 Good, Bad and Ugly international Hordes of the Things tournament will take place on Tuesday 6th November at Partick Burgh Hall, hosted by the Glasgow Phoenix Wargames Club. Its a 6:30pm start and all are welcome to take part. We'll be finished by 10pm. We're using standard 24AP armies and HOTT 2.1, this year's theme is Land of Giants, a theme army is one that has at least one Behemoth element. However, theme armies are not required to take part. Let me know if you are planning to take part or if you have any questions. See Terry's post for more details. fanaticus.boards.net/thread/1092/theme-2018-gbnuit-tournament

I'd base them as blade, maybe 3 x 3Bd and a 4Bd or a Hero (the leader plus standard bearer). I like my orcs to be mostly hordes with a few blades, (warg)riders and maybe a behemoth.

The Glasgow leg of the 2017 GBnU HOTT tournament took place last night. There were fourteen players taking part (well actually fifteen, but Paul Fagan and Ian Scott played as a team - 1 and 2 games respectively - so only count as one) including Dave Knight from the Falkirk and District Wargames Club and Justin Crozier who traveled through from Edinburgh, with the rest of the players being members of the Phoenix and Tradeston wargames clubs in Glasgow.
The evening ended with a three way tie at the top, with Mike Lille, Dave Knight and Alasdair McIntosh all scoring 39 points and killing one enemy general each, however Mike destroyed more enemy APs so the spoils of victory go to him. Congratulations Mike.
The vote for best theme army was close, with Allan Balsille's Plasticville Police beating Alasdair's Alien Seeds by four votes to three - interestingly, they each voted for the other. Gus Caldwell finished last and was presented with the Wooden Spoon on the night - it is now proudly displayed on his bookcase. The trophies and prizes for winning the tournament and for the best theme army will be presented to Mike and Allan after the Phoenix Wargames Club's AGM next Tuesday.
Thanks to everyone who took part, to Terry Webb for coming up with the GBnU concept, John Hovey for donating the giveaway this year (a custom HOTT measuring device from Warbases), Mike McEwan for sourcing and distributing the give away and Ian Scott of Scott's Models in Glasgow for sponsoring the Glasgow prizes.

Let me know what date(s) you'll be in Glasgow. If it's a Tuesday you're very welcome to join us at the Phoenix Wargames Club, otherwise we can arrange a DBA session on the appropriate day.

Thanks Martin. The players created some interesting armies.
I think that the castle is actually a souvenir model of Stirling Castle. The army with Quetzalcoatl was billed as Amazonian, but they look pretty Tupi-like to me.

The Glasgow leg of the international Good Bad and Ugly HotT Tournament took place on Tuesday 1st November in Partick Burgh Halls. This is the third year that we've participated in the tournament and the 9th year in a row the Phoenix Wargames Club in Glasgow has held a Hordes of the Things tournament There were 12 competitors, from the Phoenix, Tradeston and Falkirk clubs. Due to a couple of the games running long the prize giving took place the following week. The locally awarded prizes were: The Golden Phoenix trophy for overall winner - Graham Short (Tradeston) Best dragon - Peter Clarke (Phoenix) The Wooden Spoon for finishing last - Allan Balsillie(Phoenix) The players voted for Peter Clarke's Welsh Wizards army to go forward for the Barker award for the best theme army and for Gordon Macpherson's Greek Epic army's beached ships stronghold to go forward for the Best Stronghold award. I've created a Flickr album with some photographs, hopefully you can access it: www.flickr.com/photos/129374895@N04/sets/72157675387308800I'll post more photographs shortly. Euan
