I thought I would share another two armies that have long been on the to do list and that I finally managed to complete. These are based on the movie The Ghost and the Darkness. The armies use the list from 'The Stronghold' by 'heath'. John Paterson and Wife - Hero Remington and Samuel - Hero ' I used my hands...' Mahina - Blade Witchdoctor/Shaman - Magician Remington 's Men - Shooters Masai - Warband Workers, including Abdullah - Horde Angus Starling - Cleric *This element is not in the army list and was added just because... Ghost (Male Lion) - God Darkness (Female Lion) God Lions ruled over by Ghost and Darkness - Beast Special army rules: Both gods can be deployed for 6 PIPs, but only a single one leaves the battlefield if a '1' is rolled. A god that has left the field may be returned by a subsequent expenditure of 6 PIPs. The army has no general's element. However no element in it is counted as being out of command. This army is part of the Whitehead Collection, which is a fancy way of saying it's owned by my mate. He actually owns a few of the armies I've painted up...

finally uploaded some photos to my MyAlbum photo album so thought I would share some photos with the members here. I have posted some of these previously on the Facebook HotT Group page, but not here. My apologies to those of you here who have already had to endure these before. Here are some photos of a 15mm army I painted based around The Jungle Book I painted for a friend. I used the books and Disney movies and the Netflix movie Mowgli as inspiration. There are several sabot base so a couple of the characters can be used for different element types. These are indicated by the use of a forward slash / Mowgli and Friends Mowgli - Hero Baloo - Behemoth Bagheera – Paladin/Hero/Beast Raksha & Akela - Beast Wolves - Beast Kaa - Lurker/Sneaker Elephants - Cleric Rhinos - Knight Brahminy (Kite) - Flyer Buffalo – Horde Various smaller critters (pig, squirrel...) – Horde Jungle Book - not so friendly... Shere Khan and Tabaqui* - Hero King Louie - Behemoth Hunter - Shooter Bees – Lurker/Flyer Grey Monkeys – Warband Monkeys (Louie's helpers) - Horde Fire Red Flower) - God * Tabaqui a golden jackal can also be use on another base as a sneaker. The whole collection - Their home -

Vodnik - That's a nice collection!
hammurabi - With the exception of the Sneaker element with Rose O'Neal Greenhow and her daughter 'Little' Rose, most the miniatures are Essex 15mm. Rose is an Old Glory 15's Miniature and her daughter is by Peter Pig.

Thanks for the kind words.
I agree and it was really tempting to just bite the bullet and go with it.
The infantry are based on 20mm x 40mm bases.
I've only played one game with these troops and used the HotE variant for it and for that game we used them as shooters.
It may not have been representive an ACW battle, but it was fun. My enjoyment mainly lies in the researching, painting and modelling. The gaming kind of comes last. If you saw how badly I command my troops, you'd understand why.
Kind Regards, Barry

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts.
I also started collecting 15mm miniatures a little over 30 years ago so found myself reminiscing a little as my first 15mm were from the Zulu War range by Minifigs. The paint had barely dried on the Minifig miniatures, when I found a copy of Wargames Illustrated #6, which I am sure the newsagency received the magazine by accident, I saw an advert for Essex Miniatures. Needless to say that the Australian distributor received an order from not long after.
Your piece on paper flags was really interesting. I have also started to use paper flags over the past few years especially with the advancements in the quality. Many years ago I used to think nothing of painting up American Civil War flags for my 8mm Alder miniatures. Not now.
Kind Regards, Barry

I have just finished James Wilde "Dark Age" and have decided to re-read Rosemary Sutcliff's "Frontier Wolf" whilst I wait for the 3rd installment of the "Pendragon" series by James, "The Bear King", to arrive. Barry have you looked at Jack Whyte's Arthurian series. Certainly a different approach to the myth. Cheers, Greg, I have read the first novel 'The Skystone' in the series albeit some time ago and quite enjoyed it. I can't remember why i didn't read the others... The James Wilde books are the first novels I have read completely in a couple of years and in a three or four days (which is good for me). I am hoping this is the start of something new.
