Buy enough for Solid bows, but mount three on a base with a space to add one. Convertible bows.

Not really keen in having to buy in large numbers. If you have to buy pre-packaged armies that may or may not bear any relation to the army lists used by the rules that you intend to use it can more than offset lower prices per figure. I have many more Donnington (who sell by the individual figure) figures than I have figures from Lancashire Games, for instance. Once the figures are released, we need to form a consortium of sorts to share out the large packs into DBA armies.

This is a beautiful battle. The armies are spectacular. Well played, and a nailbiter up to the very end. If Mitch had gotten a couple more pips early on I think the game would’ve gone differently but that’s always the case.
Perhaps you could ask Mitch, with all due respect, to not laugh every time he says something.

I see tournament notices for 2.2 in Midwest USA events. The plus game evolved into its own version so I don’t know why that would still be played.
I admire your flexibility, Paul, being able to move back-and-forth between 2.2 and 3.0. I could never go back to earlier versions. For me it would be like trying to use a typewriter versus a computer keyboard :-)

Just out of curiosity, what are the armies that you have from Second edition that we’re done by the professional painter. Helps others could give you a long-term lease on some elements to complete those armies, Close to the quality that they currently are.

According to Phil, all armies that were valid for 2.2 can be used for 3.0.

A great help. Thanks. Only two items with which I fundamentally disagree, but for the sake of consistency of interpretation I will exploit as clarified! Please don’t be shy, tell us what you disagree with. I for one would like to hear other peoples opinions.

One solution for resolving a problem of multiple scales Is to have a matched pairs tournament. It’s true that players will need to have two armies to do this, but it’s rare there are not two armies in a personal collection. Also loaners can be provided. I have seen tournaments that had players bring 2 25 mm armies two 15 mm armies or to 6 mm armies. The games are always played in the same scale because the player who is turn it is provides them. DBA a already received criticism For being a fantasy game, with Burgundians fighting Babylonians or Chinese fighting American Indians. If you have figures of different sceales prepared for the snickers you Will hear. Encourage multiple scales With matched pairs tournament

Total number is not a very good metric of actual players. Some people joined in thinking that it was a “data base management” group. Some came in for just a look at what the game was about and left, others looking for a way to advertise something. Once a person joined I don’t think there was a way to resign. I think there were only a few hundred active members Over the life of the group, just like here there are only a few dozen active members. I read somewhere that at its height DBA had 75 different people playing in games at the national summer tournament in the USA, Historicon. That was in the Mid-2000s. There were a dozen games and tournaments at those conventions. There was one event, midnight madness, which was a single elimination tournament, They’ve had 40 some players at one point. Because it was so late, players from all various ancient games participated. They play DBM or DBMM or something else during the day.

I personally think “stagnation” is a good thing with regard to games. Like with chess, I want to learn the rules and play them and not have to keep getting new additions or revisions or errata sheets or FAQs. I find that the fun is learning the tactics and maneuvers that help me win the games, not worrying about why the rules are, just wanting to know what they are. Once everyone agrees on what the rules mean, let’s play the game.
