Just started "Conquistadors" by Michael Wood. Not an era I have much knowledge of.
Decided to read it as I really enjoyed both the TV series and the book by Michael Wood "In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great"

As a horseman myself I have to say the creature you have there looks a tad spavined. Hope you didn't pay a lot for him!
For those not in the know spavin is an equine term for osteoarthritis of the hock joints. I refer to the thickness of Dobbins hocks in the photo!
Never mind! Perhaps you can put him to stud and get a few more horses for your chariots!

Flooding an area of land by cutting the dykes and opening the sluices can generate some interesting scenarios for shot and pike games. Similar tactics were used in the defence of Amsterdam during the Franco-Dutch War of 1672. During the long siege of Breda (1590) Maurits van Nassau smuggled Dutch troops to strengthen the defenders of Breda.
This was done by using a number of fully laden turf ships (barges) with troops hidden in the hold.
I believe the Germans did the same in WW2 in the hope of funneling any attack and mining the only routes open.

Nice looking stuff Cromwell. Do the 2 x 2 rules result in much differentiation between the different armies? Cheers, Geoff In my opinion they do. Certain armies such as Russia field larger units but of lower quality for example, Prussia must field a certain number of Landwher battalions. I had to make up my own Spanish list as the 2x2 rules have no listing for them but I made a list up based on the DBN list. Basically they are lower quality than the others. I am now devising a mapless campaign. Details to follow!

I have now completed mhy Napoleonic armies in 2mm. Already tried a couple of games which went well. Being a heretic I know, but play testing has shown that in my opinion the "2 x 2" rules designed for 2mm Napoleonics by Rod Humble give the best game compared to DBN which I have always used for my 20mm Napoleonic battles and which work well. Pictures can be found on my web page www.spanglefish.com/solitarywargamerUnder 2mm Napoleonics on the left hand menu.

They look good.
I like the way you have done the bases. Gives great flexibility to use different rule systems.

Top marks to Irregular Miniatures. They did not do a Battle Pack army for the Napoleonic Spanish. Bit of a blow as I wish to extend my Napoleonics into the Peninsular. Also Irregular produce five Battle Pack armies this left me unable to get the Prussians and I could not order the elements to make up the Prussians as I had no idea what codes and quantities theyused.
I e-mailed Ian Kaye at Irregular, within an hour he e-mailed back (It was evening time) giving me the codes for the Prussian army, he also said if I wished he would make me up a Battle Pack Spanish army and I then I could order the battle Pack with the two armies.
This I have done. He then e-mailed two days later saying my order was in the post.
Fantastic customer service!

I don't see a problem as long as every element on both sides is based in the same way.

Very sound advice. So far I am clear but I lost a friend to this cancer and my brother in law has had dreadful problems.
Thanks for posting.

The Campaign has finished. The final winners being the Normans. I intend to replay the campaign as the shield walls of the Saxons and Vikings did not feel or play right. I am toying with re playing using "To the Strongest" Rules.
