DBA 2.2 tournament using Book I and Book II armies on 10/7 (late notice here as that’s tomorrow!) Tournament at The Polish Home in Papillion, Nebraska from 1-6 PM. 4 round tournament if enough participants. Terrain and loaner armies provided.
And yes, we’re still playing 2.2. We’re in the middle of North America, over 1,500 miles from any coast. We just got word that Constantinople fell…it’ll be a while before 3.0 makes it here! 😉🤣

Quick question. When I used war wagons before I assumed they shot like bow, but in rereading I’m thinking it’s a 3 vs foot and 4 vs mounted whether shooting or in close combat. Correct?

Anyone have digital copies of good cheat sheets for 2.2? I had several versions but can’t seem to find them. Teaching some new players this weekend.

Saturday, Oct. 9th NADBAG will sponsor a DBA 2.2 tournament at The Belvedere (Polish Home) in Papillion, NE. Tournament will begin at Noon and will be 3 or 4 rounds (based on number of players) with Swiss style format.
Boards, terrain and 15mm loaner armies will be provided.
Come early if you want a refresher or need to dust off your skills.
Since it will be October and both the Battle of Issus and the Battle of Gaugamela were fought in that month, our theme will be Alexander his Successors, allies and their enemies. Any Macedonian, Successor armies or their allies and enemies are options.

Thanks for sharing! Sure wish I’d found this (DBA) earlier in life but without internet had no idea it was out there.

I think it's a shame when a wargaming period fractures into many different rule sets (though I'm not sorry to see the hard nose competitive types play games other than DBA) but when things split it does mean some people may leave the hobby altogether, which isn't good for it's overall future. Could not agree with you more on this!!

Still 2.2 for us. I see basically the same type of questions and clarification of rules for 3.0. Appears to have fixed some things but created other questions. Still doesn’t appear worth the hassle for us to switch.

Can do but this looks like creating the possibility of an online competition via remote access. A most interesting development although everyone I know agrees that the social aspect of the hobby s important ... but then I go to two clubs and the more solitaire players might not agree. We’ve actually found that it is not that much different than being together, at least in terms of feeling connected. We can still see each other’s expressions, laugh at each other, etc. It’s not like being together but it’s not far off.

Planning to play a game through Zoom with a friend tomorrow. Will advise on how it works. How did it go? Do you agree with Baldie that it is viable? I confess that so far I am rather underwhelmed by my experiences with it. I am planning to start playing out linked games on Punic War II using C&C: Ancients; the hex grid clarifies any potential ambiguities. Apologies for my lack of response! Very well actually! We have played 15-20 times through Zoom with little issues. I use a computer to show me and my phone is mounted on a tripod to show the board from above. Only issue has been audio feedback at times. This method has kept us actively playing, whereas other games don’t lend themselves to this method. Give it a try!!

Anyone played it? Know of any battle reports? DBA inspired naval rules if you didn’t know. Thought they might be interesting to try and maybe use in a campaign.
