As an aside, and especially for our expert Tony A, which specific rules do you constantly need to look up? I guess you haven't been watching my videos as of late where it has come up.

Another series of DBA battles are on my channel from last night. youtu.be/LahzGW4pMGwIn this series of De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 games, each player had to take a general that was on foot. Here are the players and the armies they each took: Joe Kohten I/11a Akkadian Mitch Harbach IV/16 Scots Common Tony Aguilar II/49 Marian Roman Due to many factors, this is probably the last DBA 3.0 video I will do. I will do other videos/content just not DBA related.

Mounted Infantry rules are spread around the rules This is the case for just about everything and one of the reasons I have soured on these rules as of late. It is ridiculous to have played as many games as I have and still have trouble finding stuff. I love these rules (and Phil) but it is an absolute disservice to torture those of us that are trying to promote them.

All systems have their pros and cons. I must admit I do like systems where you are rewarded for killing stuff even if you don't get an 'in-game' win/lose result, for the reasons Stevie mentions above. However, the issue this can cause is that if someone has one or two really high scoring wins that can give so many points that they can then afford a loss or draw and end up scoring more than someone who's won every game, which doesn't seem right. That scenario can't happen in the NASAMW scoring and I think that is why it is designed that way.

In NASAMW a draw is NOT a win so opponents only get what they kill. We have used this scoring for over 15 years without a hitch. So if I destroy 1 enemy element, and they have destroyed 3 of mine, and we then run out of time, I’ll get 1 point and he’ll get 3 points. So it’s a draw, because nobody got an outright victory, but he ends up with more points than myself (as he should). That sounds like a ‘winning draw’ to me, using a different mechanism. You are correct. The scoring system was already in place when I started playing DBA in 2004 so I can't take (nor would I) any of the credit but I can tell you we have been very happy as it is easy to differentiate the winners from the losers.

Follow up question: if there is to be a future edition or evolution of DBA 3.0, how likely is it to preserve the existing basing width and depth and figure count scheme? I’d like to paint up and base some additional armies this winter but would prefer not to rebase if new basing requirements might be in the future. Thank you. I don't see a big push to change that.

I've recently found your videos Tony and it's gotten me very interested in DBA, mainly because of the small table size (I don't have a lot of room in my condo here in Tampa). Seems like Florida is the last major holdout for DBA in the US I've read and most people have moved on to Triumph or ADLG. There were quite a few people playing ADLG at Historicon (we will see if that is still the same case in a couple of years as many players are nomadic) and a handful playing Triumph (but that is their home turf and half of their dozen players were the core group of folks putting on the games) but not any interest that I am aware of in Florida. I can't speak for the rest of the US as I don't frequent their locales. We will have a full slate of games at Hurricon on Sep. 23-25 in Kissimmee and look forward to meeting you there.

Not going to be a problem as I have canceled my appearances (effective this last Monday) at the sweatbox until cooler climes. (So no DBA game videos for a while until an alternate location is found.) Gotta be comfortable when playing. For me, when it gets too hot I tend to get cranky and all of the enjoyment is sucked from the gaming experience. Cheers, My wife doesn't understand why I have put up with it this long (probably for 7 years now.) I already have a job that has this problem. I don't need to play badly enough put up with it anymore.

I agree - it just means very infrequent videos for you guys moving forward. Tony, just take bookings for those who want to play and the chance to become immortalised in the DBA universe 😉😏🤣. We are currently running to problems filming every time because we have too many guests that come in for game day. Great problem to have, congratulations. I agree - it just means very infrequent videos for you guys moving forward.

Been meaning to say for some time how much I enjoy Mitch and Tony's videos. For a long time I tended to regard Ps and Bw as 'necessary evils' but some of the videos showed me how useful they are once you realise how to deploy them. That is great news I am glad you are enjoying them. We are currently running to problems filming every time because we have too many guests that come in for game day. FWIW it did not take me long to see the virtues of Bw (in my first game) when my mounted were utterly destroyed by them.

Just remember that just because we do not prosecute you and carry out the sentence doesn't mean you are not guilty of heresy.

I have no plans to play another rule set that requires conforming the way DBA 3.0 (or earlier versions of DBA) do it. There is also nothing on the market that I will be going over to.
I'm either sticking with DBA 3.0 or making something else (which would be free mind you) that is WAY EASIER to teach to new players but still the same scope of game DBA is. I can also see the army lists for such an endeavor to remain the same so that you still will have to give PB the credit/money (which is not my purpose.)
With that said this is not a priority at this time since I don't find rules creation a relaxing activity. I've mentioned this multiple times on my YouTube channel.
