I would like to start a discussion about how many shooters players prefer in a dba army?
Naturally it depends on what army you chose versus whichever opponent, but I wish to gauge what people think about using shooters versus foot heavy or mounted armies...in essence are shooters worth taking?

Shooters (Sh) is a term from Hordes of the Things. It does not exist in DBA. I assume you mean Bows and Artillery.
Bows come in two flavours: 1) Bw, 2) Lb and Cb. They also come as Solid (4Bw, 8Bw) and Fast (3Bw). Artiller (Art) is just that.
Lb and Cb is a bit better than Bw, because it is more effective against Kn.
I like a few Bw in my armies, but I do not have too many armies that have them. They are extremely useful for disrupting the enemies formation, thus costing him PIP's and they can be quite deadly if they concentrate their fire. Thus you ideally want three Bw elements, so that the enemy is at -2.
I have little experience with Art, only having them in my Chosôn army. But I like Art a lot, just because I think they are fun. From reading the rules, they should also be quite effective against some elements (El...).

All the armies collected for the Black Banner project (11x) had at least two and some three bow. All had the option for either 3Bw or 4Bw. With most armies fielding 4 or 5 elements of cavalry, I opted for the solid bow types. Paired together, they were effective at repelling spear and cavalry.
They were however, greatly hampered when having to move about difficult hills and here 3Bw would have been a better choice.

But a very useful type to introduce across the DBX world to represent medieval longbow and crossbowman using powerful missile weapons and often wearing armor or protected by large shields.
