At the DBA Fanaticus Forum, auxiliaries and their effectiveness under the current version has been bantered about. I must confess, I have not seen this as a problem; they can die quickly but in many cases they have done exemplary service in more games than I can remember. The majority of these games can be found at the blog under historical matchups.
At the blog you can read a recent encounter between Rome and Carthage with an interesting finish. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2017/06/historical-match-up-rome-vs-carthage.html

A great series of games Robert. I have mixed views on Auxilia and generally find them resilient as well. However, I have not used an army that is comprised mostly of Ax.
My son uses his Lysimachid army very well. Under DBA 3.0 the army has improved as Ax have a higher base factor against all mounted. Further, unlike many Successor armies Lysimachus does not trade as much frontage.

Further, unlike many Successor armies Lysimachus does not trade as much frontage. In the series of historical matches between the Consular army Rome and her enemies I did play all three Spanish. However, looking back on those reports, I do see the Iberian auxilia (3Ax) were used and not the solid (4Ax) of which I do have a complete army. I shall have to give that pairing a test.
In the current project, I do have the Baghdad Buyid with plenty of Dailami to play with (4 x 4Ax with an option for another 3).

It will be interesting to see how 4Ax play out. 4Ax are not favoured here, but here is the virtue of DBA. You don't need to use the same army all the time.
