Spent the midday today as the guest of several who still prefer V-2. I wisely took the "When in Rome" approach and didn't evangelize for V-3 (not this time, at least).
Surprisingly, I still know 2.2 well, and I reaqlly did enjoy all the games. I took full advantage of V-2 mechanics, e.g. I clogged the board with BG when I needed to (hey, it all fit!), and my Serbian Horde made Break-Off Moves ('memba those?) to get outta trouble. Nifty.
But I quietly thought to myself that these games would have been MORE interesting in V-3. My opponent's slow but complete re-arrangement of his battleline just wouldn't happen in "Purple". His initial deployment flaws would have been fully exploited before he had a chance to move everybody around.
But, next time, I'll likely say, "Sure, let's do a re-match, but would you like to try it using V-3?"

Dropping Breakoffs was one thing I internally debated re 3.0.
The mounted Recoil on ties seems to replace it but I must say I sometimes miss them.
